In the Mafia PM of my Brawl Game, F_16 posted the following comment:

This is just really unfair play on the town's part similar to ??? game.

"What specific letter is the third letter in the second word of your role PM?"

"What specific adjectives did the mod use to describe your roleblock message?"

"When specifically can you use your powers?"

And then the same players act like they made an amazing analytical deduction and caught the mafia.

Hey, why don't we all copy/paste our role PMs and compare them to see if they match? That's where we are headed with stuff like this. I honestly think players who ask for specific adjectivs or letters should be mod-killed. Stuff like this should always be paraphrased, not repeated with whatever phrasing the mod has used.

Note: I am also a culprit, since Koopin and I used this strategy in Monetary Mafia to confirm three townies. I am not calling out any specific people.

However, I agree with F_16's general statement. I think that these types of comparisons should be banned on two grounds. First, fake claiming becomes more difficult, and second, it is exploiting a loophole in the copy/paste rule.

Thoughts?

I guess I was the one that started this whole thing. I didnt think anyone would think its a big deal, I thought it was just a cool idea to confirm someone.

I wont do it in the future though.

Actually, Koopin gets the credit. It was his idea.

I think Logic's idea was legit. He didnt ask you about letters or sequence or anything, he just asked you when you could use your role. Thats a fair way to compare claims imo.

Unfair reference to the roleblock message since a) LDF, mafia, initiated it and failed and b) you, the mod, enables it by giving her the message. I have more thoughts on this bit it'll have to wait.

Technically, it would have.

While, I easily use it to make me win, it WOULD have.

I call total BS on F16. It wasn't the message test that caused me to fos LDF. It was the fact that she revealed she knew what mine said after claiming a different message. B1tch more, f16. LDF ducked up the gambit AFTER I gave her a pass despite the discrepancies. Don't blame me.

Players shouldn't be able to specifically say exactly what their role pm says. But why not give an example of something close to it?

For example:

Two players claim they are watcher.

One players PM says "You are the watcher. Pick one player to see who visitied him/her in the night."

Another player fake claims watcher.

The fake claimer gives his side saying "You are the watcher. Pick a player every night and you can see who visited them."

This message is obviously different then the first one. So the REAL watcher can say that he got a different descrtiption. This is a legit townie tactic, because a player cannot reveal their real role, without being mod-killed.

Who cares if it's hard for the mafia to fake? That mafia should have though of a better fake claim. It is his/her fault.
