The sky was blue that fateful day. The last blue sky we'd ever see again. Had I known, I'd have appreciated it more. Now... now I shudder at the sky.

I was walking along, minding my own business, constructing internet arguments in my head when I was suddenly knocked down by a passerby.

"Forgive me, my good sir, but you should make haste! There are giants, and I must slay them!"

The armored man then rushed off. A heavy set man on a donkey followed, struggling to keep up.

Had I stumbled on some impromptu medieval reenactment? Was this a LARP game gone horribly, horribly wrong?

I heard commotion behind me and turned around, then looked up. I wish I hadn't.

The sky had what could best be described as a rip. As though the blue of the sky was not due to some phenomenon related to the scattering of sunlight, but rather because, all this time we've been staring at the blue denim of the pants of some vast cosmic creature who had now decided to display his loins for all to see.

Thankfully there were no loins, but merely a bright light. From this light tiny specks fell. They landed on the ground and then, amazingly, they rose and began to wander around.

As they got closer, I made them out to be people. At least most of them were people. What was clear was that they didn't belong. Even the most human of them were oddly dressed or behaved weirdly. By the time we figured it out, it would be too late to do anything about it.

You see, it has always been speculated that the fictional worlds thought of by our artists were not novel ideas, but rather windows into other realms which actually exist; we merely were granted glimpses into them.

Well, we now know that to be true. Characters from what we would have considered fiction: television shows, video games, movies, literature - even historical and contemporary real life figures - have invaded this world and are now running amok.

Some... well some aren't so bad. You get used to passing by cartoon characters on the freeway and, well, you don't feel so bad when you run them over with your car. It's oddly therapeutic.

However, some are bad. Real bad.

...

Help us.

Mechanics
Ok, I believe that the outcome of games shouldn't hinge among players having to guess about the underlying mechanics of the. And since the mechanics I intend to run are contrary to what others may consider standard procedure, I am going to be upfront and explicit about them right here.

1. I perform all non-lethal actions first. So, if you die, whatever action you perform still happens.
2. Where possible, I perform all actions simultaneously, even lethal actions.

Why do this rather than simply conform to SOP? Well, I designed my games with these mechanics in mind, so changing the mechanics would require a redesign of the game and I'm not doing that. Now, this is a notice, not an invitation for discussion. If you have a comment on the matter, save it for the end game thread. I merely post it here so no one can complain that they decided upon an action thinking that it would have worked out a different way.

Time Limits
This is a large game with players who are coming out of a period of inactivity. I will grant 48 hours for each Day and Night phase, unless a vote is reached or all night actions have been submitted.

Once the player count is down to 10, I will shorten this to 24 hours for each.

If time limit is reached, I will use plurality rules (person with most votes is lynched, ties result in no lynch) and unsubmitted night actions will be forfeited.

Side Bets
No side bets. Anyone offering or accepting a side bet based on this game will forfeit their night actions for the following night. Sorry, but this is just a pet peeve of mine. You're here to play Mafia, so play it.

Okay. So the OP implies two possible characters, but a player would probably only have one of the two. If you know who they are, DO NOT SAY THEM.

Then again, a LOT of our characters may be "the chosen one" sort of characters. But that phrase makes me think of one in particular.

Let's get some claims from new players - VTL Oldfrith

My claim is, as some might have guessed, something of a more refined style, not something so modern and ... well, it'll sound right when you hear it.

I can see character claiming being somewhat revealing as to our roles. No matter - we've got to try and gain some information.

Also, I suggest we out at least 1 power role so that our protective roles have somebody to focus on this NP. So, if somebody would like to speak up...

To my knowledge I don't slay giants per se, yet you'd be right in assuming I've got a character from centuries ago.

I'm not quite sure if I'm the figure in the OP. That'd depend on if anybody else chose something set in different times.
