The new site log of all the games played on the site makes digging for stats a hell of a lot easier. Post 'em here if you've got 'em.

Longest mafia game (Dp wise): Wu-Tang vs. Beatles- 12 Dps.

Runners up:

Drugged Out (Ore_Ele)- 10 Dps.
Harry Potter (F-4639)- 9
Misfits (USM)- 9
Dexter (BS)- 9
Vito's Revenge (Medic)- 9
Action Movies (F-224)- 9
Slaves of Time (Mestari)- 13(?)- I don't relegate it to the top because it was a concept game not played in a normal fashion. A long number of Dp's was necessitated by the theme itself.

So, the code basically did this.
Parses through ever page in a thread and tallies the author of each post, appending them to a running list.

It did this for every thread for the first 10 pages of threads in the Games forum (I manually created this list, subtracting non-mafia game threads).

It then extracted a unique user list from the overall tally, and calculated the number of times they appeared in that list, which is essentially their total post count.

There was an error in my code where it calculates the total pages in a thread. It was only taking the first digit. So if there were 20 pages, it was only looking at the first 2.

However, I realized that this is not an accurate count of activity because it penalizes people who die early or didn't sign up for the game.

Instead I've altered the code to determine how active they are in the threads they appear, when compared to other posts.

Basically, for each thread, I total the number of posts and unique authors and determine the average posts-per-author. Basically, what the post count per author would be if everyone was equally active. I then compare the actual post counts against this average to determine what I call their equity. The ideal is for everyone to be as close to 1 as possible. Posters who are more active than average are greater than 1; posters who are less active than average are less than 1.

I do this for each thread, and averaged each users equity across all threads. I think this gives a better indication of activity, and doesn't penalize people for not playing or who happen to die early. It's running now.

Now, this list is heavily tailored, and 10 pages is probably too far to go back. Most of the list were people who were one-off players or don't play anymore.

What does this mean? Basically, if everyone always contributed (posted) equally, all of these numbers would be 1. That is the ideal I was shooting for. But, obviously, not everyone contributes the same amount. Numbers greater than 1 are people who contributed more than average, less than 1 are those less than average, when they contributed at all. So these results are not affected by games or threads where they weren't involved in.

Now, there are limitations to these numbers:
- There is no way of gauging quality vs. quantity. For example, badger was within the time frame of this list and had a value of 1.25. But he only had such a value because he uses a post for every single sentence. The values are by post count only, not by the quality of the posts (which obviously can't be measured) or their size. A wall of text has the same numerical value as a single word.

- It doesn't factor in threads in which the person was supposed to be part of, but didn't post at all. There isn't an easy way of doing this, so this is an inevitable consequence of the code.

N/p. If I run it again, I think I'll limit it to the just the first 3 pages. I'll also add some additional information (total post cont, thread count, etc.).

Zeph was in the last beginner game, but I think that's about it.

Out of all the games in the Games forum, the winning percentage for various factions are as follows:

Mafia wins: 61 (48% winning percentage)
Town wins: 42 (33% winning percentage)
TP wins: 24 (18% winning percentage)

Note that TP's aren't even in every game so their winning percentage should be taken with a grain of salt. Later I might go in to see which games they were in and adjust their score with that taken into account.

Forgive me I could only get through twenty games to do this. So for now it will simply be a sample until I can go through all of the games. I analyzed how dp1 lynches vs. dp1 nl's affected overall winning percentages for various affiliations. Out of twenty games, these are the results*:

Overall mafia win%: 55%
Overall town win%: 30%
Overall TP win%: 15%

Games with a Dp1 lynch: 9/20

Mafia winning %: 55% (5/9) nil change
Town winning%: 33% (3/9) +3%
TP winning%: 11% (1/9) -4%

Games with a Dp1 NL: 11/20

Mafia winning%: 54% (6/11) -1%
Town winning%: 27% (3/11) -3%
TP winning%: 18% (2/11) +3%

From this sample at least, Dp1 NL's tended to decrease town wins and increase TP wins whereas mafia wins stayed relatively the same as with Dp1 lynches.

*These were taken from the first twenty games listed so the game mechanics may have changed, which could have affected the application of these results to games now. I'll do the same analytics for the last twenty games and compare them for changes later.

Adding this to the above post ^^

These are from the last twenty games played:

Overall mafia win%: 55%
Overall town win%: 15% (town's been on a dry-spell)
Overall TP win%: 40% (WTF right?)

The overall percentages add up to over 100% because there have been a few games where mafia and TP won alongside each other.

Games with a Dp1 lynch: 6/20

Mafia winning %: 66% +11%
Town winning%: 16% +1%
TP winning%: 33% -7%

Games with a Dp1 NL: 14/20

Mafia winning%: 50% -5%
Town winning%: 14% -1%
TP winning%: 42% +2%

=====
Apparently whether town lynches or Nl's Dp1 doesn't really effect their winning percentage. I wonder if this inelasticity is a good or a bad thing. As with the previous round though, TP wins go down with Dp1 lynches and go up with NL's. Mafia wins went down with NL's and up with lynches.
