To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights..."

Kinda difficult to explain, but I'll try.

I love the thought process behind the game. A nice, semi-open, semi-linear free-running game with enough of an action element to keep the average gamer interested. I really do. I feel like the way they executed it, though, was really sloppy. It was kind of inevitable when they make intense courses of dexterity and agility and put you in first person to do it, making it really hard to tell what's around you without slowing down to look around (and most of the time you couldn't afford to slow down), but it's still a thing. I do feel like the game would be lesser than what it is now if it were in third person or something, but it's still a challenge that they had to overcome in the first person model and I don't think they did a very good job at it.

I won't even mention the storyline being cliche as balls.

Overall I liked the game, there are just some aspects of it that make me never want to play it again. I occasionally pick it up once in a while to just remind myself of why I don't want to play it anymore, but it's not a bad game by any means.

What story is similar to the Mirrors Edge plot?

That is just real life. I do not see how this is a reason to hate the game so much that you rarely ever play it.

Cogito ergo sum is the theory made by Rene Descartes that basically says "I think, therefore I am". Look up wikipedia if you want to know more.

That is just real life. I do not see how this is a reason to hate the game so much that you rarely ever play it.

You're misunderstanding me on three different levels:

1) I'm not saying that the Mirror's Edge storyline is similar to another game's storyline. I'm talking about how it's playing off of the big bad authoritarian figure having all the power and a small faction of resistance trying to fight against it (i.e. the runners). If you wanted to compare how often this is used in terms of specific games, you can look at games like Alpha Protocol and Remember Me (although Remember Me came out after Mirror's Edge, it just shows that it's not exactly an original theme).

2) I'm not saying that realism in a video game is bad. I often criticize games like Call of Duty and Battlefield for their lack of realism, and I praised Spec Ops: The Line for their liberal use of realism. But if incorporating realism into your game is actually interfering with the playability of the game, you have to draw the line somewhere.

3) And finally, you misunderstand me in that I don't actually hate the game. If you had actually read my post, my first sentence of explanation explains that I actually love the thought they put into making this game. The idea behind a first person free-running game that's hyper realistic is a great idea and one that I would very much love to play. I just feel that they went too far into the realism and that hurt the playability of the game. Hence, my "Love-hate" relationship with the game.
