The original USoDDO government had fallen into chaos and was beyond repair after an attempted coup destabalized the fragile government. 10 years after the government collapsed, a group of skillful lawmakers banded together to reestablish the government and restore order to the nation. The nation has been renamed FoDDO (Federation of Debate.org) This is a simple game to see what the people of DDO would enact into law if they made up the bodies of a national government.

If you are interested in being in the game, you can join the game at any time by saying so in bold.

Other interesting info:

1) The game will begin when we have ten players.
2) The players will immediately elect a president from among themselves by majority vote.
3) The rest of the players will act as members of congress.
4) After a president is elected, Congressmen can propose legislation and all of congress votes on it.
5) A 3/5 majority and the signature from the president is required for any piece of legislation to be signed into law.
6) The president can push his own legislation to the top of the list to be voted on
7) Anyone can join

Epsilon: There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.

This could be really, really fun. I kinda would want some people to be citizens and there to be mock elections, but still. Will you be making a story and news events and such to go along with it?

Just like the last one the story will be made up as we go. Currently the USoDDO has fallen into anarchy and we are what remain and we shall put together a new government.

The first one was a problem because there were no real citizen, so the laws were often feel good trash that was full of legal loopholes. But since there was no one to actually expose the loopholes, they never got fixed. There were also laws on the books that technically meant things had to be done a certain way, but they were just ignored, rather than fixed. That is why I ultimate quit.

From what I remember most of the laws passed dealt with just building the other branches of the government (Supreme Court, States, etc) and I think 1 tax law....

I think the % to legally approve bills was lowered from 2/3rds to 3/5ths through legislation rather then just ignored.

I think the % to legally approve bills was lowered from 2/3rds to 3/5ths through legislation rather then just ignored.

There was also the completely stupid bill of rights. The thing was that everyone wanted to stop focusing on the structure of the government and just start governing their imaginary people.

The first one was a problem because there were no real citizen, so the laws were often feel good trash that was full of legal loopholes.

From what I remember most of the laws passed dealt with just building the other branches of the government (Supreme Court, States, etc) and I think 1 tax law....

But since there was no one to actually expose the loopholes, they never got fixed. There were also laws on the books that technically meant things had to be done a certain way, but they were just ignored, rather than fixed. That is why I ultimate quit.

maybe a more expansive hierarchical structure could work?
Epsilon: There are so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero... never gets to see that ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith.
