Can anyone tell me why throwing up a stomach full of water after a hard workout makes me feel better?

That makes sense. It doesn't happen everytime, sometimes I leave feeling excellent, sometimes I don't feel excellent until I throw up.

This.

Plus, since it's mostly water, it dilutes the intensity of your stomach acid which lessens the pain which is usually associated with throwing up.
I'm not back. This idiot just upset me which made me stop lurking.

Yes, and the body sends signals which try to prevent you from doing whatever you did that made your stomach bad in the first place. Once vomiting, you go back to a normal state.

I'm going to add to that.

When the body is relaxed, it enters a cholinergic state. You become sleepy and drowsy. Why? Because blood flows away from skeletal muscle and the brain and goes to the gastrointestinal tract. You secrete many bodily fluids. Your body starts to digest food.

When we exercise or get threatened, we undergo an adrenergic flood. Adrenaline causes your heart to beat faster and harder, and your breathing to quicken. Blood vessels clamp down in unnecessary parts of your body so that your blood is pumped where it needs to be: Brain, lungs, muscle. One of the things that tends to happen is nausea. When you're fighting for your life, you don't need to digest food. The blood isn't even being pumped to the small intestine so what's the use? That's why your body is trying to empty its stomach contents. It wants to keep the GI empty so that your body can effectively deal with the "threat".

Here's a tip. Don't eat or drink anything until you catch your breath, and this won't happen again.
