How do you plan to reduce your alcohol consumption this year? Or, what are the steps you'll take to help your significant others drink less?

I don't drink that often as it is. If I reduced it any more, I'd be Straight Edge.

Well I don't drink much, but I do enjoy it. I have no plans, ways, or reasons to cut down on my drinking.
I didn't order assholes with my whiskey.

I was gonna say I planned on cutting back, but I can't lie, right now I am drinking whiskey, watching the debate and yelling at Rick Santorum through the tv.

But consciously deciding to go out less, I think, is the best way. Which is how I plan on doing it.

I've never had a drink, so I'm doing pretty good so far. I doubt 2012 will be a challenge.

Here are some tips:
1. Quench your thirst first before you take any alcoholic drink. The reason is that you will drink more alcohol if you are thirsty.
2. Ensure your stomach is full before or while drinking. You will drink more if you are hungry.
3. Avoid salty foods while drinking. It will make you feel thirsty and make you drink more than you planned.
4. Avoid drinking on rounds or shouts because you will be pressured to drink more. If you drink, it should be at your own controlled pace.

Don't plan on drinking less. Drinking moderately has significant health benefits.

drinking wine moderately. I'm not so sure about others. Why do you people always have to drink and smoke? It's depressing

Easy solution, have somebody you trust put horse laxatives in 3 out of every 4 bottles of beer. Sooner or later you learn to just avoid it since its just not worth the vicious diarrhea.

Pretty sure most consider projectile vomiting a little less unpleasant than diarrhea.

Just saying.

Here are more tips on how to drink less this year:
1. Stress less. The more stressed you are, the higher is your chance of turning to alcohol to relieve your stress.
2. Don't drink alone.
3. Don't store alcoholic beverages at home.
4. Seek help if you think you can't quit by yourself and trust God that He will pull you through.
Have a sober year everyone!

Get a hobby. Drinking is boring - under the pretext of Leary's 8-cicruit model of consciousness, it effectively suppresses consciousness into a very low realm where one achieves a territorial state of mind. This boosts ego and confidence, two properties which are detrimental to mental health. I would recommend studying Leary's 8-circuit model and perhaps learning more about the psychology of alcohol and the mind and if you absorb the information it should spark some desire to change.
But we try to pretend, you see, that the external world exists altogether independently of us.

My entire personality is ego and confidence; whether I am drunk or not. This is quite uncalled for. I challenge you to a duel!

Our weapons are pistols. We are using the gentleman's duelling rules. It isn't a fight to the death, but rather first injury. Koopin, my second, is there to enforce the rules are abided by.
One would think you'd never been in a duel before.
