I got mine removed today. I cannot feel any of my lower face and any attempt to drink water results in fail.

Hasn't it always resulted in epic fail?
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Once i went to a "human rights club" meeting at my school. The big news of the week was that the Club President was getting her wisdom teeth out, and would have Lortab available to her and friends lol

I'd not recommend that, unless there's a public option in place. A single doctor's office visit is $200 before they do anything, a trip to the ER at a public hospital $700 before they do anything. Any sort of procedure done, add on several hundred more $. If you can't afford medical bill payments, your credit dives, your car and student loan and credit card payments skyrocket and forget about ever owning a home.

And with insurance, I pay all of that PLUS company profit.

Yes, I love capitalism and free choice. Capitalism gives me the opportunity to NOT buy insurance if I know it sucker punches me.

So who picks up the tends-of-thousands-of-dollars tab if you can't pay a medical bill or when you have a vehicular accident?

Insurance is a matter of relative values. To the insurance company, $1000 is only worth ten times more than $100. But for a regular person, it's more than that. For a regular person, the chance of having to pay out a huge sum of money, even if it's relatively low, is still proportionally worse than paying many small payments that on average will be more but also have a chance of being less. Does that make sense?

Also, if you just save up for big medical payments, there is the chance that something will come up and you'll be unable to pay.

I'll take that chance. In the long run, I'm better off no matter what happens.

I don't have that kind of affluence. I'll make student loans if I can't get scholarship.

And of course, I am not against taking advantage of the government. If they have some sort of subsidy, I'll take it, but of course I don't advocate the existence of said subsidy.

Wisdom teeth pain goes away fast. More ache than actual ouch.

By now, what hurts more? The soreness in your gums or reading PervRat's posts?

(j/k, Perv... sort of)

You do realize it takes, on average, more than a decade to pay back student loans, and you'll wind up paying more than "cash" for tuition thanks to the interest rates which are pretty low at first (actually I don't think any interest is accrued while you are taking courses, then they go up 2-3%, then after that they keep going up).
