I used to smoke, heavily. Now I quit. If I was sure I wouldn't need a tracheotomy by age 30, I might start back up...

Nicotine is not a carcinogen. It is a stimulant. It does not cause cancer, rather it causes addiction.

If you absolutely must smoke tobacco and are thinking about switching, you should try smoking a pipe.

That smells so damned good. I might pick that up when I get older, lol.

The best part is these studies are unbiased and not in any way funded by big tobacco!! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!! Now I shall go outside and have a smoke and think about you dum aZZ non smokers!! BWAA HAA HAA. I've been a smoker for 30 years now. I am a speciman of health. I am in better health than 98% of my aquintances my age.
When face book came on line I was able to see what people looked like from high school, Man some of my old friends look like they are 20 years older than they are. That was shocking. I guess I am in good health because of the work I do and genetics. My mom is 72 and she is more active than most teenagers. She quit smoking when she was 63. She smoked since she was 16 years old. Just up and quit out of the blue. It had to do more about the cost than health reasons. She always says "do you know how much money you will save" And she is right. But in light of this new eveidence.......................

Unfortunately smoking a pack and half a day is the equivalent radiation exposure of almost a chest x ray a day.

http://www.scientificamerican.com...

I'm almost certain a chest x ray a day is not recommended.

And you actually believe that. Did you even attempt to find anything that would rebuff that or do you just believe it because you want to believe it to be true. And if it were true what evidence have you looked for that suggests that getting a chest x ray everyday is harmful. Or do you just believe that too. No, I wont look for links for you. You see, I think therefore I have nothing in common with most people. I don't believe anything anyone says without doing my own extensive research and looking at information and studies that differ and how they came to those conclusions. Most people have their pre programmed bias about everything and will believe anything they read that supports that bias, especially "So called Scientific Studies" History is filled with "scientific experts" who are and were completely wrong. I of course will look for other studies that back this claim up and try to prove it wrong. I don't believe it as yet. But it has promise because the anti smoking crowd can't use politics and political correctness to dismiss it slight of hand. They will have to come up with "substance" to dismiss it.

You need a smoke my friend. Must be a nic fit you are having.

PS. the tobacco industry is the ones that reveled that they have polonium in their smokes and choose not to wash it out. It is not some made up fairy tale, as I would assume they don't have an benefit to admit they have polonium in the smokes.

As far as x rays, I just let the fact that the tech is not in the room with the machine and patient when they initiate the scan do the talking.
