Hmm...J.M. Roberts' "History of the World" as well as a collection of good textbooks on the matter of world history and so forth are all cherished, one way or another, I dare say.

Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln

Interesting to see the diverse and well described political figures. Interesting to see some of Lincoln leadership style. Interesting to see some of their interactions some like Salmon Chase seem amusingly petty, some like Edwin Stanton surprising depths. I enjoyed it.
