So for Christmas my girlfriend got me the historical biography Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by the famed historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. I have just started reading it and I must say that it is quite good. I've been wanting to read this exact book, and I must say that so far it is quite good. Within it are the stories of Lincoln and his three rivals of the 1860 Republican nomination Salmon P. Chase (Lincolns Secretary of Treasury), Edward bates (Lincolns Attorney General and William H. Seward (Lincolns Secretary of State). So I must ask what other great historical books you have read on any period of history and how you liked them and who they are by. I hope to continue reading as many books as I can on history and other topics. I would this book to anyone, its over 700 pages so if you are into light reading (depending on your own definition) I may not be for you.
