The French Revolution is both the most important and the most famous event in all of French history, because it involved such radical political and social upheaval and had a profound impact on revolutions that were to follow all over the world. I found more here also http://flagoffrance.net...

I consider the French Revolution the first true struggle between reactionaries and revolutionaries. Between conservatives and liberal. Between right and left. Between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie.

In fact, I think politics today owes a lot to the French Revolution: we got the right left spectrum from it.

I see the French revolution as an example of the upper middle classes removing barriers to their gaining of wealth and power by getting the lower classes to do the fighting. Same thing happened in America, that revolution was all about removing restrictive trade practises so the merchants could get wealthier. Same thing happened in pretty much every revolution.
