Hey guys, I'm writing a book. No, seriously.

It's about famous revolutions throughout world history. I have thought of a decently-sized list of revolutions to include in the book, but I need your guys' help in giving me more ideas. I've already thought of (Googled) the following:

-The American Revolution
-The Cuban Revolution
-Taiping Revolution
-The Young Turk Rebellion
-The Glorious Revolution
-The Iranian Revolution
-Arminius vs. the Romans
-Russian Revolution
-October Revolution
-Arab Spring
-Mexican Revolution
-Irish Rebellion
-English Revolution
-French Revolution

Which rebellion did the whole Tiananmen Square happen in during the 1980's? That would be a good one to include.

IMPORTANT: HATIAN REVOLUTION

One of the only times in history where a slave revolt actually resulted in a country's independence, and I think it became the second country in the America's to become independent. It also played a role in the sale of the Louisiana purchase to the US since France no longer wanted anything to do with the America's, which was attributed in part by the Haitian Revolution.

Ok so would you count the Industrial, Scientific, Sexual, etc., revolutions? The Quiet Revolution in Quebec?

What about the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution in 1960s China?

If the Taiping Rebellion counts as a revolution, does the US Civil War count?

Not any of those. And I wouldn't count the US Civil War as a revolution. Btw my comment about the definition of revolution was just a joke.

Remember not to confuse a revolution with a civil war. A revolution is for liberation from a distinct power, and civil war is fighting between the nation.

Revolutions are not always over liberation from powers. They can just be about issues. And I know what a civil war is.

The issue or reason is irrelevant. A revolution is an overthrow of a government to replace it with another one. A civil war is to change how the current government.

What about the English Civil War then? It was a war fought over the same issues as the Glorious Revolution, and the rebels won.

Or the Spanish Civil War? Both sides fighting wanted to make big changes in society, including the fascist Nationalists who won.

The Russian Revolution also led to a civil war. The Chinese Civil War that followed World War II (the Second Sino-Japanese War) was also a successful Communist Revolution.

The Confederates in the US Civil War argued that they were fighting to "liberate" themselves from an "oppressive" federal government. I don't agree with that argument, and we all know the South was fighting also to preserve the institution of Slavery that was the backbone of its economy at the time. If the South had won (I'm glad they didn't), would they have named the war the "Confederate Revolution"?

Civil wars are when the country fights itself, revolutions are when the people rise up. I think you see the difference.

The US Civil War is a revolution from the Southern perspective it was the Second War of Independence for the Confederacy. The winners write history and that's why we know it as the Civil War. If it were fought to a draw or if the Confederacy won it would be seen differently.

Civil wars are when the country fights itself, revolutions are when the people rise up. I think you see the difference.

So a war can be both a civil war and a revolution. Ex: the Chinese Civil War.
