A More Moral America...

So, let's say America operated a little bit differently than it did in the history books. Specifically...

1. Westward expansion didn't happen. Americans only entered into Native American lands to the extent the Native Americans allowed, and the Native Americans were paid fairly for any purchased land.
2. Slavery was ended peacefully right around the same time as it did in actual history.
3. America refused to enter into wars that had any possibility of collateral damage.
4. No one in America was ever able to engage in peacetime practices that damaged other people's health (so, no leaded gasoline and an omnipresent FDA)
5. Everyone was paid fair wages (By modern standards) from America's conception.

What would've happened differently? Would this even be viable?

Hmmm...I think that today we would look a lot like France. Or Sweden. Or another of those Socialist-Democracies.
Science Flies Us to the Moon. Religion Flies us Into Skyscrapers.

Hmmm...I think that today we would look a lot like France. Or Sweden. Or another of those Socialist-Democracies.

All these countries (that I know of anyway) engaged in some form of imperialism before becoming as they are currently. I take it you don't view that as necessary to their development?
