If we look at the Book of Infancy according to Thomas we can see that Jesus moved around a lot, because he caused a lot of trouble. Quite hilarious if you ask me.

Truly, no one is certain about Jesus' hometown. The gospels bent their stories to lend credence to the Old Testament. This is why the gospels don't agree as to where Jesus was born, nor which town was his hometown.
Many scholars believe that Jesus never went to Bethlehem, but that the gospel writers made up the Bethlehem story to follow the narrative of the Old Testament prophecies of Isaiah.
