Try to get Hero of Alexander's aeolipile working so that we'd have an industrial revolution 2000 years earlier.

But then wouldn't we totally have destroyed the environment by now?

They'd figure it out, like we did. Although I'd probably have to also give them Calculus for them to get an industrial revolution.

I would've stopped the original Americans from bringing slaves over. Without the blacks, we'd have a dramatically lower murder rate, poverty rate and less white women rape.

Slavery was the biggest mistake America ever made, and for the reasons I stated. Sure blacks had a better life as well fed farmers in America, but how did they repay our kindness? By causing a civil war and bringing all this crime?

On a more serious note, I would have had Commodus die an early death, and have Diocletian appoint a proper successor.

I'd rather be the slave of a millionaire than some naked dude in the jungles, hunted by enemy tribes and wrestling lions for food, any day of the week. I don't see being a slave as much different from my current position. I work for food and shelter and have token amounts of entertainment, just like the slaves did.

Maybe I'd prevent the execution of the Romanov family, but I go back and forth on that.

It's a nice question and a good idea of the right answer is to ask ourselves does human nature change? The answer is no , so the same mistakes would be made.History is created by man and mainly by the big- movers not the ordinary John Smith. I'm a John. Smithcarried on the flood tide of world events.

Allow Carthage to sack and annex Rome, letting them get a taste for conquest, which leads them to go eastward. Causing North Africa to be more like Roman Europe and maybe places like West Africa and the Horn of Africa would be more Carthaginian like. Starting a chain of events that would lead Africa to be the home of European like civilization.

This is cliche, but I'd stop 9/11. The way I see it, most of the worlds most powerful nations are now in combat against eachother in the middle east. The probability of this leading to a large scale east-west war is getting bigger with each headline. By stopping 9/11, I would end the chain of events that could lead to global war.

I'd probably do this by going back to the 80s, investing in Apple, then using my newfound wealth to influence the proper people to assassinate Mohammed Atta and the other co-conspirators as early as possible.

- It wouldn't have changed a thing. After the battle of Tours, the Muslims were requested by the natives to get rid of Charles Martel, but they refused. Besides, they stayed in south France for 2 centuries after that battle. I don't think anything would have changed if they won. It's not like they never lost any battles, although they won most of them, evidently.

I would change nothing--history is meant to be as it is.
Commentator on a picture with David Cameron and a Cat: 'Amazing what you can achieve with photoshop these days. I'm sure that used to be a pig.'

Commentator on Hillary Clinton: 'If Clinton is now what passes for progressive, maybe this country deserves Trump.'

Commentator on British parliament: 'All that talent in one place, where is Ebola when you need it?'

John Kerry on words: 'These aren't just words, folks.'

Changing one thing would change many other things, and we could possibly not exist. I know what you mean, though.
I would stop the thing that spurred the Syrian war(s), whatever it was.
Peace.

Diocletian's successor was Nerva, one of the 5 Good Emperors. What problem do you have with Nerva?

The US should have stayed in Vietnam in 1973 and Iraq in 2011. I'd make sure they did if I could.

Because the US abandoned their commitment to the South and gave in to anti-war protests. Had they stayed, they could have prevented the spread of communism and the genocide that followed the North takeover of the South.

I would prevent the roman empire from falling and give them guns and nuclear weapons and rockets and planes, so they can conquer the entire world
