What is the meaning of myth? Does it mean gods, religion, how things work, what does myth mean? Please explain using your own words.

That's the definition of myth. What do you mean by "how did they make up myths"? They were folk stories that were told and found as real in the ancient world. I'm sure that if our current monotheistic religions die out, in a couple thousand years down the line, they will be seen as myths as well.
