I am a Harry Potter geek. I've read all the books. I own all the movies. I have fantasized about being a wizard attending Hogwarts, more than once.

So this just a thread all about it.

Have you read any of the books? What did you think of them? Are you disappointed with any of the movies in living up to the books? Did they cast the characters as you had imagined them? Who is your favorite character? Is there anything in the plots you wished had gone differently? Which house do you think the sorting hat would sort you into? The newest movie just came out, have you seen it? Blah blah blah blah blah?

Yes! Just what we need, a Harry Potter thread!

I have read all the books and have seen all the movies, and am excited about the last one! I'd have to say that Snape is definitely one of my favourite characters despite hating him early in the series(I think most people probably did though). Once I got to the end my mind was blown! According to the online quizzes I should be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. I would rather be in Slytherin though, lol.

Yeah, the later parts really change one's perspective on Snape. My favorite is Luna though. I wish she was used more in the story-line. She's just interesting. The books says she'll "believe anything as long as there's no evidence". She must be a Discordian!
I'm confident I would be in Ravenclaw.

Yea, Luna is cool. Too bad she didn't come in until later though. She had so much potential to develop into a prominent character and she provided comic relief, lol. not that this is Harry Potter related, but I think J.K Rowling should write more books. :P

I agree. She has a writing style that keeps you very drawn-in. I've never had one of those zone-out moments and say "What the fvck have I been reading?" with any of her books.

I heard a rumor that she may make another Harry Potter book which is supposed to take place in the future with their children grown-up.

I think I may have heard of that actually. It just wouldn't be the same though. Things like that never are.

It's more than just a rumour, it's fact: the book is going to be called "Harry Potter and the Tories' Education Spending Cuts" and here's the plot:

The evil Tory Party, led by the spiteful and wicked aristocrat David Cameron, have seized power of the country and have decided to give all their incredibly wealthy friends massive tax cuts as a reward for being filthy rich and to slash government spending on education in order to balance the books.

As a result, Hogwarts is earmarked for closure: the school is to be sold off to a political donor to the Tory Party who happens to be a property developer who specialises in converting landmark buildings into luxury apartments, and Hogwarts' pupils are going to be absorbed into already overcrowded and under-funded state schools.

Harry Potter and his friends decide to march on Parliament to protest at the cuts in education spending but the evil Prime Minister has got wind of their plans and as they get off the train at platform 9 ¾ at King's Cross, Cameron's fascist boot boys dressed in riot gear charge through the station on horseback, kettle the pupils, bludgeon them to the ground with their batons and arrest them on charges of breach of the peace and unlawful gathering.

So, Harry Potter and his friends find themselves behind bars and stripped of their magic wands (they were subsequently charged with carrying offensive weapons) and need to think of a way to escape and save Hogwarts from being closed down and sold off to the greedy and unscrupulous Tory-supporting property developer…

Anyone who likes Harry Potter and is nerdy enough to be on DDO should like reading this:

http://www.google.com...

Be warned, so far it's still in the first year but it's longer than the first three Rowling books combined.

Epic but good? You do realize that this is an inexcusable contradiction? Have you ever went to church? Was it boring? Yes it was, and so how can a book be epic and good?

I read the first few books when I was little, then I grew up and now I am not a fan of Harry Potter at all. I mean they were interesting books at the time I liked reading them but by the time the later books came out I think majority of people who followed the series have outgrown wizards and goblins.

Strawman.

Churches are a major cause of irrationality.

1. You're irrational (established)
2. You don't go to church (probable)

LOVE Harry Potter. I actually read the Deathly Hallows yesterday (well, I read the first 10 chapters and the last 6 or so lol).

My heart melts for Snape. From the beginning, I always loved Snape.

On a random note, Albus Severus is quite possibly the worst name ever. And after all the epicness of the seven books, the last page of the last book was so not epic.

In terms of casting, Christopher Columbus did an incredible job. The first two movies were fantastic. However, casting went downhill from there, starting with Michael Gambon as the most energetic and angry Dumbledore I have ever seen.

And don't even get me started on the werewolf in the Prisoner of Azkaban.
