This is the most insane and bad@ss national anthem I've ever heard in my life. The only other that measures up to its greatness is England's.

No, our anthem is kind of screechy and dry. People take too many liberties with it and turn it into a pop song instead of an anthem. The U.K anthem is good too, but it lacks grandiosity. The Russian anthem just inspires respect

Why did that youtube idiot describe it as the USSR's anthem?

Anyway, the only emotion this anthem inspires in me is the contempt of "Yes, god damn it, the Parthenon!" A steady bit of drivel with deep voices is all it is.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

Now the Internationale, that can be done pretty good, as long as you don't understand the words.

well, because that was indeed the national anthem of the USSR. Putin sought to change it after the USSR dissolved, but it was found that no other anthem elicited the kind of pride and fervor from the their citizens and athletes. So, they returned to the original.

I know you're the polar opposite of all that which is communist, but how can you not find this beautiful?

Different sets of lyrics.

These lyrics aren't communist dude. The Internationale's lyrics are communist, but as long as you can't understand them, it ain't bad.

How can you find it beautiful? It's freaking monotonous.

From a musical perspective it really is a great song. It does inspire respect and awe just by the soudn alone.

However our anthem is powerful due to the picture it paints and the symbolism and the way it was written.

I love our message of perpetual endurance. The flag was still there... I love that.

The poem by Mr. Key was amazing, it was whoever put it to music in the early 20th century that messed up lol

Also I liked this version better:

If I ever become the leader of my own country, my first act will be to make the Pokemon theme song the national anthem.

I am deadly serious.

You all lose. Rapture's anthem is much better.
Think'st thou heaven is such a glorious thing?
I tell thee, 'tis not half so fair as thou
Or any man that breathes on earth.

@DeNinja: I didn't tear up, but it was emotional.

@Ober: Yes and no. I would really like it, but it would seem like the plotline would be forced. I would think, if the series truly continued, it would be a part of the Half-life series.

Well, it seemed that way for 2 as well. They could put a new character in or whatever.

I actually really enjoy the American anthem as sung by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey at the Super Bowls. What's interesting (and what I like about) the Anthem is that it can be sung in so many different ways, suited to each singer's style. That's the one thing I don't like about the Canadian Anthem--I've over ever heard it sung a limited number of ways.
