So, I've been thinking about this recently, and think I'd like to try it.

Do you think that it'd be fun if we started a little online book club? Like, we'd all pick a book we can all access, and then agree to, for example, read chapters 1-3 by such and such a date, and then discuss the book on here for a couple days before continuing. I'd be willing to try and organize it. It wouldn't require a LOT of organization, but I'd be willing to kind of semi-lead it or something?

What do you think? A good idea? Would you participate?

I like it!

Interesting idea

-Would have to be quite flexible as there wouldn't be much motivating people to finish in time.

-How would we decide on the book? (If you've thought up something yet).

I'd probably join.

WE might be able to do like, a suggestions list before picking a book, and then vote, and then make sure that everyone can access said book (ie, a library, or a Half-Price Book if they're willing to pony up a couple dollars).

I didn't think about logistics too much (unfortunately, I think of ideas before how to actually implement them), but if there's enough support, we can figure that out.

As for motivation, I think the discussion itself is enough motivation. If you didn't read, there are no consequences. But partaking in the discussion would a) spoil the story and/or b) be confusing, as you haven't read.

Okay can I request some books for the list?

Well, we have to actually first make sure we have enough support (a couple more), and then we need to all figure out how we'd structure the whole thing.

Again: this was a logistic-less idea.

Are we going to figure out how to actually put together the club, or are we just jumping in?

Simple. 1) Pick book. 2) Set up chapter reading and stuff 3) Discus. 4) Repeat.

I think it could work, and if one person can't get access too a book than I guess it's just too bad for him.

Each person presenting a few books and then every one voting on one, other than their own, I think would work fine.

Do we do it in a separate forum?

All right then. We should probably let this thread go on for people who want to join for like a day or two, and then we can pick a book.

So, yeah. This thread will be for people who want to join: "sign ups."

And then in 1 or 2 days I'll post another thread for picking a book (and for any stragglers to join us too).

I say make threads here. That way it could spark interest from other members.

Is this based on non-fiction or fiction books? I'm not a fiction reader. Last fiction book I read was in high school.
