I used to be vehemently in favor of the death penalty, but after reading The Green Mile by Stephen King, I just became eh in favor of the death penalty. Some people who commit crimes feel true remorse, and probably would never do it again. Sure they deserve harsh punishment, but starving/dehydrating to death is pretty extreme.

I definitely think they should be given a harsh sentence, and I find it hard to justify giving another chance to a murderer. Their victim is dead, and gets no second chance.

Still, I don't think they deserve a torturous death.

Case by case man, case by case. Some murderers really and truely regret their actions, and deserve another chance, after a hefty punishment. There are some, however, undeserving of even an underground cell where they can starve. For those serial killers and serial rapists and some child molesters, I say just execute them. Not lethal injection, too nice. Just get it over with and hang 'em. Starving them to death may seem like a good punishment, but there's no need to waste money and build more facilities for these animals. Just hang 'em high and get it over with.
