Seriously, they have installed keyloggers and monitoring software on my computer. It is really annoying because the monitoring software is supposed to block "innapropiate" sites but it blocks pretty much every other website and forces the stupid safesearch on Youtube which gets rid of the search suggestions. I hate this, is there a law against this? This is a severe violation of my privacy and there should be laws against this.

You'll have to discuss this with your parents. There are no laws preventing your parents from parenting, and you are not entitled to any specific amounts of privacy while you are a minor living in your parents home. So, no, there are no laws with regards to this specific issue preventing your parents from policing your internet usage.

While I somewhat sympathize, kudos to your parents.

I sympathize. My mom has put up the Mac's "Parental controls," so that I only have a limited time on the computer and things with certain keywords are blocked. It's not as bad as your case, though.

Don't take this personally, but die in agony, you pathetic incestuous ass-rammer.

Dustpelt, see if you can get a keylogger on the computer. Then make up a reason as to why your parents should type in the password. Problem solved!

Also, (if it isn't too personal) why did they want to block sites in the first place? Did you get a virus, or did they get tired of transvestite orgies keeping them awake all night?

As long as you're a minor dependant on your parents, there's nothing you can do. At least, as long as the laws where you're at are the same as over here at least. There should be a few ways to cheat it, though. Have you tried googling the matter? You could always wipe your history afterwards so they don't know you googled it.

I meant nothing you can do legally. Morally I'm opposed to this, but legally it can stand unless you paid for the computer.

Well it depends. It's not like your parents own all property that you've payed for. I don't see any claim they can make to it, although they can certainly control what you do with they stuff they provide for like my laptop (christmas present) and internet connection. I've actually threatened my father with legal action when he attempted to throw away my video games and Xbox on the grounds of destruction of private property, seeing as I am the only one to pay for either. I assumed it was correct since I've reached the age of consent and my father was a cop, so when he backed down I assumed he knew it was legally valid.

IDK why, I don't view anything bad, they are just nosy.

Find a way to get around it? Do your research on the specific program(s) and its/their loopholes.

I can hack it, but it takes a long time and I don't want to hack or boot into Linux each time I want to view DDO.

There are windows applications that can be downloaded to do this... I could tell you which ones or how to find them but I feel like I'd be corrupting a minor...

I'm not exactly sure of the law here but I'm inclined to agree with Drafterman based on the rights of parents, but more so because of a minors lack of rights regarding their earnings. If a minor has a job, earns a wage, and gets paid, the parents have full rights to those earnings.

I'm not entirely sure of the laws regarding property though. By property I mean the right of minors to buy land and what legal rights they would have to it. As far as items a child may own, it seems to me that it is entirely at the discretion of the parents, and since any money the child may have is under the legal rights of the parents, by extension I would think that any property purchased with it is also under the legal discretion of the parents.

Dude...you're a teenager. Hack into the programs and disable them.

Yeah, should be an easy hack. One way to get around blocked sites is to use Google Translate as a proxy server.

Just figure out the keylogger's name and Google how to get the password to its administration application. Once you've got that problem solved, use the software to monitor your parents.

While the technical details vary from state to state, even if he is recognized as the legal owner of any specific piece of personal property, as guardians, his parents can exercise control over it.

If I found one someone was tracking my internet usage, I'd mess with them so hard. Terrorism, beastiality, faecal porn, cults, bomb-making, satanic rituals, russian brides and gore just for starters.
