To USA! Yay!

We're thinking about the middle of next year going to you guys' neck of the woods for a month. As I've recently read On the Road by Jack Kerouac, I suggested we fly to LA and hire a car and do the cross-country road trip to New York. Then perhaps up to Canada if time permits. My girlfriend isn't too keen on the road trip idea. :(

Seeing as yous, liek, live there and stuff, are there any landmarks, tours, sites, etc. you guys would suggest we take the time to check out when we head over?

That depends on how long you intend for your trip to be. For instance, if you were to stop in Las Vegas, how long would you be willing to stay?

It also depends on what type of trip you are trying to have. Are you thinking of doing a lot of site seeing, are you looking for sin and vice, or a mixture of the two (and leaning which way)?

Yeah these are things we'll hafta discuss in the next few months. I think Las Vegas would be our first stop out of LA because it seems close. I would wanna stay in LA for a few nights, then Vegas a few, and so on till we get to New York, where we'd stay a few nights. That's how I see it panning out. We'll both have a month off work so I'd say we'll be there at least 3 and half weeks.

Pretty exciting stuff. :D

If by sin and vice you mean drinking booze and gambling, then I think a bit of both, not leaning way way or the other.

Yellowstone National Park.
Washington D.C. is great. Lots of history and the museums are all free.
Las Vegas, of course.
In L.A., check out the Sunset Strip if you are into Rock music.

The Grand Canyon is a usual site seeing favorite.

It really depends on your route as well. For instance, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone aren't both a good idea for an L.A. to NYC trip. One or the other, depending on your route.

I'm posting too much now. Oops.

You might consider telling us some of your interests. That might help some people here come up with places to visit that relate to your interests.

Yeah I see what you mean (thanks Google maps!). In that case I would probably opt for the Grand Canyon, but then again if you take the Northern route (up through Idaho) you get to go through South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore would be cool) and through Chicago (I could go to a Springer taping!) to get to D.C., then up to New York from there. Decisions, decisions...

Also is it legal to just drive across the border from the States to Canada or do you have to get a visa and all that?

What's the "middle of the year?"

If it's in August you might wanna go to the Sturgis rally, which fits right in with the Rushmore stop.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

Hmm... I don't know that I have any broad interests which would translate into what kind of things I'd like to see. I love everything about show business, which is why L.A. is a must. I love casinos and partying which is why Vegas is a must. Then we've got basically a whole country to drive through, most of which I have no idea about what is there.

If you're going to Los Angeles, drive over to Las Vegas. Easy drive, too.

Thanks man, yeah that's definitely on the to-do list.

Not entirely sure man, but doubt it will be as late as August. If it is though, I'll certainly keep it in mind. They used to always visit the Sturgess rally on WCW wrestling every year so that is one American attraction I actually know about. :D

Yeah, if you take a northern route I would say stop by the Rocky Mountains in Colorado as well. You can stop into Denver since it is nearby. I don't know what there is to do in Denver, though.

You can skip Canada lol.

And damn - I don't even have the money to roam around the U.S. :P

Like JBlake said, it depends on what you wanna do. For instance, when I go to Europe, I like to check out museums and stuff like that because I'm nerdy. Some people like aesthetics (cool landscapes, or places like the Grand Canyon). I dunno. I think if I were you, I'd just wanna check out some cool cities and see the vibe there and whatnot. Vegas is one of them, Philly and NYC should be in there, and Chicago since it's very central should as well. Depending on how far south/north you're willing to go, Boston is interesting and Florida is... well... lol it can be a lot of fun (Miami and such). Hey hey maybe we'll get to smoke that bowl ; )

Haha you're still in college aren't you? When I was in college I didn't have enough money to eat let alone travel :D

In January I start as a graduate mech engineer at a coal mine, a $93,000 (not sure what that is in USD) a year job. So by mid-year I should have quite a bit saved.

That would be awesome. :D

Yeah, I'm in college. I'll be in college forever! Lol congrats on the job though. I will most definitely be extending an invite for you to meet Monica - the other woman in my life (my bong lol). You're right though, there's a lot to see... this looks pretty helpful:

Of course she knows about her... we have threesomes regularly :P

Well, our "billy" is gorgeous -- She's made of glass and kind of purple, but looks almost translucent. We definitely got the vibe that it was a female, and also super sexy like an Italian chick or something. I'm going to have Vi take a picture of her when she gets home tonight (I'm in NJ at the moment). Anyway because she's so sexy and curvy, we decided to name her after Monica Belluci...

The chick's hot. I would get a hard-on smoking that bong if it's anywhere near as hot as that chick. :D
