7/9/2013 4:40:09 AM Posted: 4 years ago So the brand new laptop I had just bought in December of 2012, is now broken. First I dropped it, tripping over a wire in the dark cracking the screen. That lost me my touch screen abilities. Then 2 months ago my touch pad mouse went out, so I had to by a wireless mouse to plug into the USB. Then just an hour ago, for some reason my charger completely stopped working. MY laptop is now out of batteries, and I don't even know where to begin fixing it. Instead of paying out my @ss to get all these malfunctions fixed, I think it would just be worth it to me to buy a new one. I want something good, like this one was before I dropped it (lol).
Any recommendations? Price range is under 1000$ (preferably under 600). |

7/9/2013 10:53:45 AM Posted: 4 years ago Under $1K, I'd go to one of the discount web sites like tigerdirect and look for a bargain. My preferred brands are Sony, Toshiba, and Asus, but something like HP or Dell is good at the right price. I often buy refurbished units, because they are actually tested by a human -- but there is some risk that of intermittent problem that the tech didn't find.
You should be able to get a good laptop for $1K. I'd try to spend $800 for the laptop and also get a pocket USB HDD. That provides an external backup if the laptop gets smashed. |

7/9/2013 1:58:58 PM Posted: 4 years ago Well, with that much money, you can get a really good one. I usually buy mine within $300 - $400.
It really depends on what you want to use it for. Do you plan to play a lot of video games, watch a lot of movies or would it be primarily for work and editing documents? Would you run software on it or write your own programs? |
