They need to have Saints Row 2-like character customization (this video game has a Wikia if you haven't heard of it), where customization goes as far down to parts of the player's clothes (e.g. logos, badges, accessories) and the player's movement (such as different fighting styles), and if possible, an open world environment.

So far, I've heard of Skate 3 and Fallout

Can you give any suggestions?

I asked this, because I was disappointed to find out SR4 is just like SR3, and that even games such as Sims 3 and other girl games (which are, I guess, supposed to be quite big on the thing) are not on par with SR2 without mods on the same category.

There really aren't a lot of games that fit this description... What platform are you playing on?

Either way, play Morrowind until GTA 5 comes out.

Here are some things even better than video games:

Reading books
Going for a run
Learning to be a lifeguard
Learning a new language
etc.

There's GTA 5 coming soon. For the next gen consoles, there will be Watch Dogs, which will be sandbox style and have very good visuals. Currently there is "Sleeping Dogs" which isn't related to the WD, but is open-world I think. You can give it a try.

All which can be done alongside video gaming as a hobby.

A reading, running, lifeguard that can speak multiple languages?

What video game is that? Sounds awesome!

Skyrim and Far Cry 3 come to mind as great open-world games.
Might not be the kind of customisation you're looking for though.
GTA5 is 49 days away.

"even better than" was the key phrase preceding that list, but no worries.

Halfway through that list I realized that you didn't mention Star Fox. Before noticing the very bottom, I was about ready to hack your Facebook.

Bioshock and Bioshock: Infinite are good games.

Both Crackdown games are fun for just some stupid fun. Crackdown the first is actually from on XBL right now if you care to try it.

All the Arkham games.

Assassin's Creed 2, and 3 were good. ACR and ACB.....eh.
