The quotes that people include in their signatures are an unceasing source of entertainment for me, especially when the quotes themselves -however out of context they may be- are among the most unforgivably stupid things that people have said. I just wish that people would always give attributes to the quotes.

I guess I've been around long enough that I can remember well enough the context in which most of the quotes took place, too. It's nice to see that as a community we don't tolerate hogwash, but that we mock it. There are some clever insights that are included in signatures too, but it's the "walls of fail" and the like that really make me smile. Schadenfreude, I suppose.

I actually like reading peoples signatures too, but you my friend do not have one? Why not?

I'm curious what you think of the quote below.

I'm becoming less defined as days go by, fading away, and well you might say, I'm losing focus, kinda drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself.

Unfortunately, the real emphasis is on the last line...

Explain the quote like you are Edgar Allen Poe talking to me.

I think I'm going to change my sig, though, because I think it's too pretentious. I mean, I don't disagree with it.... but at the same time it's really sort of a middle finger to the world, especially coming from me.

"A stupid man's report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand."

-Bertrand Russell, A History of Western Philosophy

Bertrand Russell was kind of a douche. Wittgenstein was also more clever. Just saying...

Took this as chance to update my sig,
Not sure about mixing a made up quote, a hilarious quote and a serious quote in one sig...
"If you are a racist I will attack you with the north"- Abraham Lincoln

"Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material" - Leviticus 19 19

"War is a racket" - Smedley Butler

Lincoln was himself a racist, just less racist than most others at the time.

Thank goodness we're not subject to Old Testament law...

And war is one of the most lucrative of all human activities.
