Do you say 2010 (two-thousand and ten) or do you say 2010 (twenty-ten)

I prefer the latter.

It just sound more futuristic and not as wordy...

Which one do you prefer?

My friends and I were discussing this at lunch today ;)

We agreed that twenty ten sounds better and would be easier to reference.

I say 20-10. Twenty-ten is three syllables, while two-thousand-ten is four syllables.

Similarly, nineteen-eighty-four has five syllables, while one-thousand-nine-hundred-eighty-four has eight syllables.

Fewer syllables ftw.

Twenty ten.

Efficiency shall be the competitive death of a certain debater's model.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

How 'bout "This year"?

Has two, not three.

It's worthwhile when it is actually this year, unless your statement is preserved. But in the long run twenty ten wins out.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not. Do you say this every time?

I generally use both. It's just whatever happens to come out I guess. Sometimes it's "Twenty-Ten" and at others it's "Two Thousand and Ten".

Ever play Halo? You wouldn't call the year two-thousand, five-hundred and fifty-two, would you? Do you? Probably not. You call it twenty-five fifty-two, so why should two-thousand and ten vs. twenty ten be any different than 2552?

Also, ten years from now it will probably be agreed that the years of the 2000s should be pronounced "twenty-oh-x"
2000=Twenty hundred
2007=Twenty-oh-seven

Get the picture?

In 2009, I actually started saying twenty-oh-nine and my history teacher caught on...

Instinct tells me that it is twenty ten.

However all the other years of this decade have been two thousand and...

And contrary to popular opnion this decade ends at the end of 2010.

So out of consistency I will endeavour to say two thousand and ten.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

LOL! I think that's the first time I've laughed at one of your posts, I love it =)

Anyway, I say two-thousand ten. The alternative sounds ridiculous to me.

How about "ten" as in '10.
It is odd when one's capacity for compassion is measured not in what he is willing to do by his own time, effort, and property, but what he will force others to do with their own property instead.

Twenty-ten in casual situations, Two-thousand-ten in professional situations.
