Hey y'all I'm starting a thread where I post my favorite quote of the day and I talk about what it means. You can join in the conversation if you want. :)

December 26: Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is. -Jim Morrison

I think this is an amazing quote. Some people really dislike me and try to rewrite who I am. It's not going to happen, if you are my friend you won't mind my insecurities and my faults. You'll love me for who I am.
I'm so fancy, you already know.

December 26: Friends can help each other, but they are not obligated to. A true friend is someone who does not let you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel pain. Or, not feel happy. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is not fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is not. ~Me

12.29.13

"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children; to earn the approbation of honest citizens and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one"s self; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived"this is to have succeeded."

"My hypocrisy goes no further than yours"
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

"Is not the setting up of a neutral institution standing between the people and its enemies, capable of establishing the dividing line between the true and the false, the guilty and the innocent, the just and the unjust, is this not a way of resisting popular justice? A way of disarming it in the struggle it is conducting in reality in favour of an arbitration in the realm of the ideal? This is why I am wondering whether the court is not a form of popular justice but rather its first deformation"

~Foucault

I've been reading through Power/Knowledge recently and this one from "On Popular Justice: A Discussion with Maoists" caught my eye.
