Ok guys, this is the first official meeting of people who signed up for the DDO group play through of Democracy 3.

Here is the current list of people who are playing the game: http://www.debate.org...

Now the first order of business:

If you have never played the game Democracy 3, I highly recommend that you watch a couple youtube walkthroughs of the game so that you can familiarize yourself with how the game works and which policies are available to be enacted or canceled. It would also speed the game up if everyone kinda new the game so that we wouldnt have to burn time explaining it to people who havent.

Second order of Business:

The first thing that you guys as a group will decide is which country we will be ruling over. The current countries available are:

The US
Canada
Germany
France
Australia
UK

A simple majority vote will determine which country we pick (meaning first to 8 wins), and if there isnt a majority then Ill make it a plurality vote, meaning whichever has the most votes by say Friday will be our pick

Third order of business:

While we do that, we should also decide what political party we are going to be representing as the ruling party. We could go with one of the major parties or we could just make up our own party too.

Fourth order of business:

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO KICK PEOPLE FOR INACTIVITY

Like seriously, if the game goes on for days and you dont post, ill kick you from the game so that those who actually want to play this game and want to get stuff done can actually do so without having to wait on some idiot.

Final order of business:

The game is a turn based simulation, where each term lasts four years, and each year lasts 4 quarters. Each turn = 1 Quarter, which means that there will be 16 turns before an election is held. If we dont get re-elected. The game ends. If we get assassinated, the game ends. If we get re-elected, we get 16 more turns to do what we want and then just try to do the best we can before the second term ends

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them.

How about the common sense party? Their core idea is that we should look at what has been tried works and what doesn't work and base decision off of that.

High tariffs actually discourage foreign trade; that was one of the causes of the Great Depression. Keeping to ourselves(the nation that is) would prevent a lot of war casualties and war expenses; we'd just stay out of it. Of course we'd stay in the UN and keep an eye on everything but other than that......

Only discourage trade into the nation. This isn't entirely bad, as it helps domestic companies keep up competitively with the low costs of Chinese products (etc..)

And I've never once came across tariffs as being a cause of the Great Depression. The Great Depression was caused by loss of money stock and how banks only had $0.10-20 per dollar deposited. When everyone tried collecting their deposits out of fear, only for the money to not exist. The banks would borrow the needed money from other banks, causing otherwise stable banks to collapse as well. Another issue was the UK removing a lot of it's gold from the US when it stopped using Gold Standard.

We would stay out of foreign politics. Having a tariff isn't the same as entering world politics.

Okay, you gave 1 argument, I gave 1 argument. We should leave it at that an avoid a debate here... This isn't the place for one lol.

Vote To Lynch Australia.

ha ha. I saw that someone put VTL and I'm not sure if they even know what it means, but it was accepted so I spelled it out just in case. Australia for me.

Not sure about what kind of country to pick so I'll let you all handle that.

Instead of spouting off random party names in which I have no idea what kind of views that party holds, let's start talking about what kind of things we want our party to represent then name it later.

I think for some kind of base a libertarian type party would be something we can all agree on.

Current Country Vote Count: (First to 8 wins)

US = 6
Australia = 2
UK
France
Germany
Canada

Still waiting on 7 others to vote.

Also the guys proposing policies already have clearly not seen how the game is played, and I again encourage those people to actually watch walkthroughs of the game on youtube before developing a game plan

Lastly if you guys cant agree on a party name Ill pick the name myself and call it something stupid, like the Krinack Party or something
