I don't know any in real life, but I'm considering living in a rental storage cube for a short period of time while saving for the down payment on my house.

I don't think you'd be staying there for a "short time" wjm.

Anyways, I've never heard of the term "Freegan" before, though I know squatters who essentially act the same. I suppose you can't get much harm out of this though, since they're not exactly stealing or using anyone's property without permission - its all discards and refuse. But, still, ew...

Now now, Ragnar, just because I admire Freegan over you doesn't mean I don't think your pretty cool guy.

Obviously it had the same thought behind it, just slightly tweaked.

Why not just stay with your parents, or better yet rent a room in someone's house or apartment? I'm sure it'd be really cheap. In NYC, rent in a 2 bedroom apartment is around $1,400 (in Manhattan it'd be around $2,000 - at least). In Illinois where I live now, it'd probably be around $600. I'm assuming that it'd be cheap like that in Texas too depending on where you live.

More of the second pic than the first. And I'm just considering as a cheap alternative to an apartment.

I'd prefer not to stay with my parents, but I'd consider "Mexicaning" with about ten other people in one apartment. Cost-effectiveness would be priority so that I can save up for the down payment.
