"I can put the case no more eloquently than a contributor in America - where this issue also rumbles on - to the website debate.org. "I think that 16-year-old should be able to vote because some kids at my school are the most smart peaple i no," posits Maturity In Teens. "Some kids that i now will make the best choices that anyone will make because sometimes older peaple sometimes dont no what voting is about. And some kids no what is voting, president and secritary." Who can say fairer than that?"

Sh*t we're cited a lot as "unscientific" polling. Hilarious. That's exactly what Juggle wanted when they made that godforsaken section of the website.

I could genuinely write a Wikipedia article for DDO based on that polling. There's so much there it's almost Juggle is paying people to talk about the polls.

Yay they pulled from one of our resident illiterates.

We need to stop preemptively judging ideas based on grammar of their supporters and start evaluating ideas for what they are: Abstractions.

Believe me, I understand what you're getting at, but don't you think it's a little demeaning to call someone "illiterate" simply because they don't spell everything one hundred percent accurately?

There are a variety of explanations that have nothing to do with illiteracy. For example, English might not be their first language, and while that makes them seem stupid to us, the fact of the matter is, they know one more language than most Americans will ever learn in their life.

Another possibility is that, like me, they are often confined to their mobile device, where auto-correct wreaks havoc upon even the best of us

I apologize if I seem hostile, because I truly mean no offense. It just gets at me a little bit because we could just as easily call them "stupid", but instead associate intelligence with linguistic prowess/education, which is a ridiculous measurement of human worth and potential.

Take, for instance, Richard Branson, esteemed multi-billionaire and former C student. This man, when embarking on his quest for fortune, did not even know the difference between net and gross income (http://www.incomediary.com...).

This one example reflects a greater truth: Education does not equal cleverness. High vocabulary is no substitute for analytical ability, and anyone who thinks (or acts) differently, while understandable, is merely feeding their own ego.

The bottom line is, we need to stop this nonsense of dismissing ideas based on their supporters, and start evaluating based on their own merit.

Thoughts?

This is cool...I never knew actual news outlets ever looked at this site, even if they excerpt quotes that are not exactly eloquent.
