If by freedom you mean freedom for the quickest draw of "reused glass" :P.
It came to be at its height. It was commanded to command. It was a capital before its first stone was laid. It was a monument to the spirit of man.

That's a pretty good freedom.

Out of curiosity, Reasoning and the other anarchists here - how often do you go out and protest? How often do you guys actually attempt change, or try to promote your ideas, or perform any activism of any sort? I know Freedo can't even fight off his parent's insistence he goes to church - how many of you are in similar circumstances?

Or are the lot of you armchair anarchists, as I suspect?

Like G20 stuff? Not yet. It's hard to get to events when the State won't let you drive. :/

A bunch of my friends were just arrested yesterday, though. I don't think I have the guts to defy the State like that. :/

I have recently begun open air preaching.

It's called carpooling, taxi's, buses, and trains. Get to it!

Mhm.

I have recently begun open air preaching.

Would you blame me if I said I didn't believe you, simply because of your already-admittedly poor repetoire in most, if not all, social situations and your lack of contact with the outside world?

I am in similar circumstances.

Ah-huh. Ever fight with your parents?

Before one can change the world, one must change oneself.

That's what I thought.

Hey, mom. Can you give me a ride to the train station so I can go to a black bloc rally? I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully.

I was making fun of Godsands but w/e.

Nah, I'm a pacifist. Besides, if I upset them, who would feed and take care of me?

Indeed. The kingdom of God is within you.

The anarchists I know wouldn't bother asking. Where's the rebel spirit, dude?

I'd actually ask GodSands the same thing.

Nah, I'm a pacifist. Besides, if I upset them, who would feed and take care of me?

You? Get a job and survive for yourself - be independent.

And how do you expect me to get to a train station? Plus, when I get back, my mom would be pissed.

I have a job but why would I want to be independent when I could have others take care of me?

In my defense, I call myself an Anarchist because I like the writings of Mikhail Bakunin and dislike the terrible government structure we have in place now. Of course, much like Communism, I fear it might be good in theory and but completely impractical. I could probably also be called Progressive, but don't like the connotations involved with that, so until then VIVA LA REVOLUSION!

As are all anarchists. Yeesh, huh?

I regularly (or did, before this busy summer term) did features on relevant issues, participated a bit in the (somewhat distant) FNB, and, participate in protests here and there, keep an online journal and debate/discuss a lot (though I admit the topic is rarely anti-capitalism/etc), help out the local labor union paper, share, and...behave, quite well, as an example of what anarchists could be. I'm the Good Kid. ;)

Besides, there's nothing wrong with being an armchair anarchist--better, perhaps, than being active in the stereotypical way. What's important is living your values, not how much you ra-ra-ra at a rally no one's paying attention to.
