On the island mauritius where the dodo bird use to live, there is a species of trees that are becoming rare. There are only 13 trees left and they are all about 300 yrs old. No new trees have been germinated since the late 1600s. Dodo birds became extinct 300 yrs ago. The reason no new trees have appered is because the dodo birds would eat the fruit of the tree and the seeds would only become active by passing through the dodo birds digestive system. Because the dodo birds are extinct, the species of trees will become extinct unless we find a way to save it.

In the final days of WWII, the Soviet Union declared war on the Empire of Japan. Despite WWII having ended with the formal surrender of Japan on September 2, 1945, the Soviet Union and Japan did not officially make peace until the 1950s.

Vaarka swung his sword at the mod. However, since I am now incorporeal, he ends up accidentally striking the entire American landmass (It's a REALLY bastard sword), destroying both continents. Spiders are now at 50% of capacity."

If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in the air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

Does that make celery officially the world's best diet food?.

Native Americans used to name their children after the first thing they saw as they left their tepees after their children were born, hence the names Sitting Bull and Running Water.

After the Second World War ended, some Nazi scientists were smuggled into the United States by the "Office of Strategy Services" and they were involved in various research projects for the US Government.
One of these men, Werner von Braun, played a very important role in the moon landing.

The AK-47, developed and introduced into Soviet military service in the second half of the 1940s, was designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov.
The AK-12, developed in the 2010s decade and is soon to be used by the Russian army, was also designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov. That is, the same guy who made the AK-47 in the 1940s.

Fortune cookies were originally associated with Japan. This changed during WW2, whenever Japanese fortune cookie producers in the United States were interred in camps, leaving Chinese Americans in a position to take over the fortune cookie industry.

The first vending machine was from the 1st Century AD

Vending machines kill 2.18 people every year, but sharks kill only 0.6 people every year.

Don't swim in vending machine-infested waters. You might get killed.

In 1997 a Pokemon episode titled "Electric Soldier Porygon" aired in Japan. The episode's use of a certain animation technique during one scene caused countless Japanese children to go into epileptic shock. Subsequently the episode was not aired in the United States.

Though slavery in the United States ended at the close of the Civil War, isolated incidents of slavery continued until the 1960s.
Sylvester Magee, who was purportedly America's last surviving legal black slave, died in 1971. Though his claims were for the most part undocumented, and thus unable to be confirmed, there are records from the 19th century of a slave named Sylvester Magee, whose background lined up with his purported background accurately. Also, his accounts of certain Civil War battles were incredibly accurate and detailed, for a man who could neither read nor write.
