Mafia is a game of lying.
At the sign up, who ever many people the moderator wants to play join. (I've been in games with between 11 and 23 people)
The moderator then randomly assigns roles to the players.
There are usually two teams, the mafia and the townies.
The mafia know who each other are, the townies don't know who anyone is.
There are usually a lot more townies than mafia.
Some roles don't have special powers, they are called 'vanilla'.
Powers include: roleblocker, cop, doctor, serial killer, hitman.
The mafia win when they have equal numbers to the townies.
The townies win when all the mafia are dead.
The townies try and put pressure on people and look for 'scum tells' (I don't believe there is any such thing, usually the mafia f!ck up and give themselves away or are found out via some role, like the cop.)
During the Day Phase, people discuss sh!t and decide to lynch someone via a majority of votes or not.
During the Night Phase, the roles are used.

...it's dungeons and dragons. What about that is confusing?
When large numbers of otherwise-law abiding people break specific laws en masse, it's usually a fault that lies with the law. - Unknown

Pretty much the same way as in real life.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

me neither... but if you've played baldur's gate or NWN then it's a fairly straightforward transition.
