What is the legal definition of marriage now? Now that the definition has been changed it must be defined in specific legal terms so that the courts can define it and listen to future challenges to this new definition. I did a short search and could find no new statue of any kind related to the definition of marriage.

The old definition
U.S. Code " Title 1 " Chapter 1 " " 7

What is the new definition verbatim under US code?

Astonishing, UTTERLY ASTONISHING. not a single reply. the entire user base of DDO can not define the definition of marriage. I wonder who gets to define it if at all? Congress or the supreme court. I know, the kangaroo court of pop culture will define it.

I dunno about legal stuff, but in terms of humanistic value, there is one and only one that can and will last, IMO.

'The ceremony of marriage was intended to be a bond of love between two families of different surnames, with a view, in its retrospective character, to secure the services in the ancestral temple, and in its prospective character, to secure the continuance of the family line.' (Book of Rites 44.1)
I think it is well established that the only reason aliens come to earth is to slice up cows and examine inside peoples' bottoms. Unless you are a cow or suffer haemerrhoids I don't think there is anything to worry about from aliens. - keithprosser

The legal stuff is what matters and the only thing that matters if marriage is going to be recognized by govt as a legal binding contract. It must be defined in very specific terms. This is legal stuff 101.
