For those who don't know what's going on, yesterday Reddit fired a very prominent admin responsible for coordinating the AMAs, which put the incredibly popular subreddit at a standstill. They gave no warning and have yet to explain why they did it. They haven't even made so much as a peep even though it's all Reddit is talking about. Over 250 subreddits, including many of the defaults, have shutdown in protest, and still no word from Reddit.

Of course, anyone with half a brain and knowledge of Reddit's history could have told you this would happen. For a long time, Reddit has had a very strained relationship with their volunteer mods. Even IF they fired Victoria Taylor for good reason, what on earth do they think they're doing by making no official announcement? It's just sooooo stupid. Ellen Pao doesn't know what she's doing.

It's the internet. In a month this will be forgotten and AMA will be running smoothly as they ever were with a few oldbies griping about the "good old days".

No one is irreplaceable. But hopefully in the future they'll have better communication between the admins and mods.

None of this changes the fact that Reddit management is retarded, and that Ellen Pao doesn't know what she's doing.

Why they decided Ellen Pao would be a great CEO is beyond me.

To prove to the world that they're not sexist.

Which is why firing their most well-loved employee, who happens to be female, is a horrible idea.
