A conversation the other week, plus the need to clean my pens, brought me to write this.

I have been using a number of methods, solutions etc. Here is the way best way to do this.

1) Put nibs in very hot water with dish soap
2) Let sit for a bit (5 min)
3) Get hot water in another cup, and a cup for waste water.
4) Take small sip of hot water.
5) Put nib to mouth, force hot water through nib into waste water cup (several times)
repeat process

Anyone else with better process?

Buy a new pen for convenience? Use a gel pen such as Bic Velocity http://ecx.images-amazon.com...

Or go to the basics:

I actually have one but don't use it on a regular basis since too much ink gets deposited onto the paper, which is not bad if based on the assumption that I do not have to use the back of said paper.

Well, there are a lot of different nibs that you can choose from. Yes, regardless, the ink is very different than you have on a ball-point or gel. It WILL absorb into the paper much more.

Writing with other pens is scratching ink to sit ON-TOP, while writing with a fountain pen is laying down ink that dries into the paper, in-affect staining it.

That sounds like a paper problem. Buy some Rhodia or Clairefontaine.

For my lever-fillers I usually just flush it a few times until the water expelled is clear.

For my eyedropper (a Falcon that I broke the converter for, lol), I usually just run it under the sink's faucet for a few minutes...

I've probably asked this before, but what pens do you use?

I'm actually interested in getting into luxury pencils... I really want an Eversharp Skyline repeater pencil and fountain pen set. That would be amazing. Beautiful pieces: http://www.ebay.com...

That looks very nice.

My wife is an artist. Her pencils are so very nice. Yea, they can be messy, but the black is so black.
