Aloha, DDO!

With only 30 days left until the election, and now that our platform has been out for awhile, we wanted to host a campaign "Ask Us Anything." We decided, incidentally, to put the AUA in the Misc forum because we want to keep the main forum free of spam; it is important to us that our campaign doesn't disrupt day-to-day life on DDO.

Of course, feel free to ask us any questions you have; some personal questions may be answered, but we would primarily like to talk about issues relevant to the election and to DDO's future. This AUA will last from today until 1:00pm, Central time, on the 15th. Our election platform and a summary of some of our existing accomplishments in office can be found here [http://tinyurl.com...].

Thank you!

What, if any, contact or improvement in contact with site owners has been accomplished?

As yet, none. I am working with Max to reach out to the appropriate Juggle representatives, because I want to work with them, and feel like once contact will be made, the road to progress will be a bit easier. That being said, I, like everyone else, am becoming increasingly distraught at the current technical state of affairs, and I am actively thinking about alternative ways to make contact with Juggle.

But, as a kind of addendum to that last remark, I would say that our platform is heavily based on what we can do on DDO without Juggle's involvement. I think the last 5 months of our administration have shown that we don't need Juggle to improve DDO and to accomplish substantial objectives.

That being said, there are certain things we cannot do without Juggle, which is why we really want to work with them, but we also realize that there is a lot we can do on our own. We will--with all the effort and dedication we put in the last 5 months--continue to work for DDO in all those areas that we can if reelected.

Because the President can do a lot on the site due to the soft power they have at their disposal. Frankly, I don't think a platform and one AUA count as "so serious;" you should've been around during the Blade-Mikal election.

I want to contribute to the site, and this is a way for me to give back to everyone who has helped me grow since I joined ^.^
How does it feel running for the first time?
Good :) I enjoy working with bsh1 and Zaradi and I think we'll do well together if we're elected.
What are your expectations of this election?
I don't think we'll have that much trouble, tbh. We bring so much to the table in terms of experience and connections to the users that we can use to make DDO a better place.
What do you consider the most important aspect of DDO?
Definitely the community. A site is only as good as the people who use it, and I think that the large amount of talented individuals on DDO really makes it a special place for me. I may have joined for the debate aspect, but it's the friends I've made and the fun I've had that has kept me coming back every day.

Would you consider trying to beat Airmax's record as longest-tenured president of DDO? Or, what I think I'm trying to ask is, do you have a time you plan on leaving the job, or will you stay as long as you can win elections?

Obviously I plan on being President indefinitely. What you don't realize is that all the elections are rigged to keep me in power. *menacing laughter*

The above was, for the record, just a joke. In all seriousness, I am not sure what I have planned. Chris asked me this in a hangout a few nights ago, and I told him that I wasn't sure what I intended on doing, and that the next elections are about 7 months away, which is pretty far into my future--too far to really know what I'll do. That being said, and speaking from my position right now (and my position in 7 months may be different), I would like to seek a third term. A fourth term, however, is far more questionable, for a whole host of reasons. I don't think I would be unwilling to seek a 4th term, but I would probably prefer someone else who I trusted to take the reigns.

A lot of the plans I offered are new. The Debate Club proposal, the General Coaching program, Updating the Wiki, and the Administration reshuffle are all new.

Well, I am not sure how much I can add to what my platform already says, but I can talk about each.

The Debate Club would be an 8-week long program specifically designed to encourage quality debates on the site. Members of the club would be randomly assigned another member of the club every 2 weeks to debate. At the end of each cycle, a "Debate of the Fortnight" prize would be awarded based on the progress of the debates so far. This prize would be either a cash prize or a voting-based prize. When debates conclude, I would urge members to submit feedback for the debaters, and I would also award prizes for "Best Feedback."

Every month, people could sign up to receive feedback on a debate of their choice. Only 10 people could sign up a month, and I probably would not allow people to sign up for consecutive months. Again, this is part of our drive to improve the quality of debates on the site.

The Wiki update would require us enlisting a slew of volunteers and to work on updating articles on DDO's official wiki. It will require us to work with the wiki admin, and to do research on site history, so that we can provide the most accurate information and so that we can know which articles are most in need of updates.

The administration reshuffle is, essentially, us assembling a panel of advisers to assist us in running the administration (like a cabinet) and to form a pool of volunteers that can be called upon as-needed. It should improve our efficiency.

This looks similar to the mentoring program.

Right, but the mentoring program is only for new members and it requires that people debate their mentor. This program is for anyone, and people can submit existing debates for critique.
