Webcorp spent millions on installing a flux capacitor. That's why we don't have edit post buttons.

It seems to be able to know what I am going to post before I post it. What does this mean? Is free will gone?
No, it is photo editing in action.

Out of curiosity, why would an edit post button be that important?
It is useful for editing errors that could easily make people misunderstand something.

Can't you just clarify in the next new post?

It seems like people could easily manipulate an edit button, hmm.

It can be between two long posts and may not be read.

It could only work within two minutes after someone posts. I have been a member of forums that had an edit button, and it worked well.

I would say that it would be nice if the edited text turned into another color and a footnote said what was edited. This way, one would still not simply be able to "cheat" with something.

No, it's merely a logical extension of determinism. Since the moderators of DDO know everything about us on this this site (they research everything about us from birth till death the moment we join), they know exactly what we will type before we type it, and automatically type it first so we don't have to. Pretty convenient.

not if you could only edit your own posts,

also quoting someone in a post would make it so they couldn't delete their posts...
