With more than a week stay here in DDO, I must say that famousdebater, Blade-Of-Truth, zmikecuber, among others, are the best. To look at it, they've been to debates that are very controversial and very famous at the time.

Now here is the ideal best debate ever: 10 rounds where someone like Blade-Of-Truth and zmikecuber will face off, and arguing about the most controversial thing in the world. Keeping their composture 'till the end.

Now that's my best debate in my idea. How about yours? And what is the best debate so far...ever?
If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

I have a 10-0-0 debate record with an ELO ranking of 2,814. From 610th during my first two-week stay, I am now 326th in the Debates Leaderboard: http://www.debate.org...

Not so sure what is the best debate on the site ever, but this is my best debate [http://www.debate.org...]. I suppose, if I had to nominate candidates for best debate ever, I'd nominate this [http://www.debate.org...] for its historical value in shaping site culture, my USMGs vs. FTOs debate (because <3), and this [http://www.debate.org...] for its depth.

Think I'd be really hyped to see any of these face off against each other: Raisor, Whiteflame, Bluesteel, and Thett.

Oh. I think that the debates that I am in right now is not in the half of those debates. But I am sure that "Poop has DNA" is a lot better and more famous than "Resolved: The USFG should eliminate its nuclear armed ICBM force." I think that "Poop has DNA" should be called as a "The Best Accidental Funny Debate Ever." That debate made me laugh so hard and I can't even believe how his argument led to his victory. The other one is just so serious in form, more informative.

Wasn't that debate the debate that made me laugh a gajillion times?

Well, the Poop has DNA is important, because it is kind of the catalyst for DDO's long history of trolling serious debates with unserious arguments or with arguments presented as serious which are really not. It also amplified the role of humorous debates on the site. So, it really shaped DDO's early culture.

Depending on what metrics you use to make the evaluation, any of those 3 debates would be good candidates. Also, a list of famous debates can be found here: http://www.debate.org...

Many people attempted in the Funny Debates section, but failed. I think Max.Wallace attempted, but ended up to be silly.

The winner is in the Hall of Fame. His record is undeniable. He is very experienced and knows very well how to win. He sets the definition first, and the Instigator still insisted, so I think Con really won the debate.

If they ever faced off, it might be one, if not the best, of the greatest DDO debates ever. Have we added zmikecuber in the Hall of Fame list? His debates are all in all amazing, and some of his debates could be considered as one of the best.

Some of his debates have been added to the HOF, if I am not mistaken. But he is not yet in the HOF.

Whiteflame and Thett did face off, and it was a great debate. Though, I wouldn't suggest it was one of the top 3.

If he did ever come back one of these days (that physics -_- ), he should secure some victories of some good debates and he should be inducted in the hall of fame.

http://www.debate.org... -> Man. There is an ongoing debate right now called "On Balance: Schools Should Teach Fine Arts to the Students." It has that potential to be equal with that debate you're saying. There are many debates that are better than that, just like what Mr. President had told me.

My sister read the "Poop has DNA" and she laughed so hard. But at the end, she disagreed with Con and decided, if she is going to join DDO, that she will vote for Pro. She is skeptic about Spongebob and such but she said it is the truest definition of "Laugh Out Loud."

I believe that is one of the greatest example of how do you win carefully by planning it first, because almost everyone knows that deoxyribonucleic acid exists in poop. So he made up a story, rather a funny one, and secured his victory. He's a smart debater as well because he outsmarted Pro, who we all think is saying the truth, and convinced us at the end to vote for him. However, my sister thinks otherwise because she is not yet a DDO member yet :P

I'd like to see debates like bsh1 vs whiteflame or maybe a rematch between Envisage and n7 on a God related debate.

And I believe that by using whiteflame's style, I stunt the Euthanasia's Instigator. I think he's a vet so he has a lot of advantages in the matter (he is actually stating about Animal Euthanasia).

I think he will come back at a weaker argument. I noticed why I chose such a horrid topic. In fact, I agree of Animal Euthanasia. I just don't agree with Human Euthanasia. The lesson is never accept a challenge unless you read what the Instigator says in the first round.

I wanted to study your style as well. May I?

It's easy mate. Look at the Elo Ranking. bluesteel's has a higher elo ranking and obviously the very definition of beauty and brains. bluesteel also is leading in winning ratio and percentile.

Looking at Midnight1131, zmikecuber, bsh1, etc. lets me think otherwise. But if you say so, then so be it.

Wet grass is the sign of rain was good . I learned if you word something the right way you win.

Or wet grass is a sign that somebody left the sprinkler on.

Yeah I know , i love stupid but ,

Whiteflame or Bluesteel. Though bluesteel no longer debates so if your talking about active debaters then it's whiteflame. If your talking about all users then it's a tough one between those two.

It's easy mate. Look at the Elo Ranking. bluesteel's has a higher elo ranking and obviously the very definition of beauty and brains. bluesteel also is leading in winning ratio and percentile.

Elo and percentile have been highly critisized for their inaccuracy. Bluesteel has been on the site much longer than whiteflame has and has competed in many more debates than whiteflame. Percentile is based on the number of debates you win. Logically it is impossible for whiteflame to have an equal percentile (or higher) to bluesteel because whiteflame hasn't been on the site long enough to have participated in that many debates. Elo is similar. Elo is all about how many debates you've won compared to how many you've lost (and it also takes your opponent into consideration). Since bluesteel has competed in many more debates this means that bluesteel is obviously going to have a higher elo. Even if whiteflame had won all of his debates, he still wouldn't have an elo as high as bluesteel. The system is flawed. There are some users with terrible elo rankings and percentile ranking but are smarter and better debaters than some people with high elo rankings.

Looking at Midnight1131, zmikecuber, bsh1, etc. lets me think otherwise. But if you say so, then so be it.

I'm going to be debating bsh1 tomorrow in the census debate. That's gonna be tense because whoever wins gets $25.

Oops. I even suggested in one of my posts that ranking of DDO members should be based on Elo ranking haha! I am still with whiteflame :)

Have you done that "betting" debate before? Has it been into practice ever since I got here? I want to experience that, too.

Don't worry sir, I will stay up to date in your debate. Let me have a prediction: it is going to be a HOF candidate.

It's pretty recent. This is the 3rd time that it has ever happened. If you are interested there will be a forum released in the debate.org section of the forums every month where you can express interest. You must be voted in though so before you enter I suggest you get some experience on the site and complete at least 30 debates.

Thanks. That really does depend on how many good debates happen in the space of now to the next HOF election. So far there have been a lot of good debates since then and so there's going to be a lot of competition. Going up against the site president (bsh) is definitely going to be difficult though.

Okay. But how does that work? I'm pretty worried because the Philippines is not included in DDO, and that is my major concern. Does the minimum is $25? Can you increase the bet price?

Saying that you've won those two, you got $50 in your account. Mate, this should have been a feature in DDO, don't you think?

Difficult with a money on bet would transform a debate to a very interesting one. Wishing you the best of luck in this world.

You do not bet your own money. It's a prize for winning the debate. You can't increase it or decrease it. It is fixed at $25 and is usually given as an Amazon voucher.

I haven't won two. You misunderstood what I said. There have been 2 so far and I haven't been in those two. I'm participating in the 3rd against bsh. I don't understand what you mean when you say that this should have been a feature in DDO. It is a feature (well not an official one. If you are insterested then contact the user Donald.Keller for more information since he hosts and organizes these debates.

Yeah. Maybe another good idea instead of letting DDO users bet their money just for debating.

Sorry to misunderstood you sir. Maybe the thing that is going on with that right now is just fine. Because the organizer will lose a lot of money because of hosting this kind of debates.

If it is on 'bet' form, then it is fine.

Thanks.

No problem mate.

The organizer's a great guy but to be honest I really don't know why he chooses to spend his money paying debaters who win his tournaments. Not that I'm complaining. He spends an awful lot of money on this site and I see no obvious benefits for him.

If it is on 'bet' form, then it is fine.

Thanks.

I know. Betting would be wiser.

There are kids on this site. Encouraging betting isn't really the direction that the site should be taking.
