LIST OF PEOPLE INVOLVED

Competitors:

Laissezfaire
Darkermit
Zetsubou
Usafkid1121

Judges:

Johnicle
wjmelements
gavin.ogden
theLwerd

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

-Well it seems that we'll have a small tournament; however, perhaps it will be better that way (we might be able to actually finish it!). Anyway, since there are so few competitors, this is how we will determine the winner:

December 26th: Round 1/Round 2
January 2nd: Semi-Finals
January 9th: Finals

This is extremely tentative due to the fact that Rounds 1/2 will probably take two weeks to complete and a few days to be judged.

CHALLENGE FORMAT

Topic 6 will not be used. As a result, Pro will ALWAYS challenge Con.

-The first round of the debate will simply be a challenge round. Pro will have ONE DAY to challenge Con and Con will have ONE DAY to accept the challenge.

SETTING UP THE DEBATE

OPPONENT: Whoever is assigned in the schedule
TOPIC: Copy and paste the topic from the schedule. I will make sure that it fits into the topic.
POSITION: Pro/For
CATEGORY: I could care less.
ROUNDS: 4
VOTING PERIOD: Indefinitely
TIME TO ARGUE: 72 Hours (but please post within a reasonable time)
ARGUMENT MAX: 5,000 Characters
ARGUMENT: Wish your opponent good luck and thank your honorable judges or something. But it would be nice to have the full resolution typed in the first round.

ROUND 1

TOPIC: "Members of the United Nations Security Council should strictly enforce the Nuclear NPT."

PRO_________________CON

usafkid1121____________Zetsubou

Laissezfaire____________Darkermit

ROUND 2

RESOLVED: "A f.s. military operation to prevent the negative effects of genocide should be initiated by the US"

PRO_________________CON

Zetsubou______________Laissezfaire

Darkermit_____________usafkid1121

=======================================================

Each debate will be judged by each of the judges. The more times they vote for you, the higher you will be seeded (and theoretically the worse your competitor will be in semi-finals).

Feel free to post questions… Good luck!

Challenges are due by 11:00 P.M Central Time tomorrow. Challenges must be accepted a day after that.

Well I didn't want to have 3 debates in 1 week (2 is hard enough to manage). If we were to do 3 debates, then I would have to add another week (it does make sense to have 3 debates with 4), but I essentially chose between having a semi-final debate and a 3rd round (to go straight to finals).

If there is a consensus, I would be willing to change semi-finals to a 3rd debate against the other competitor, but we'll see if other people agree that everyone should just face each other.

I think 3 rounds makes more sense.

Well either way, rounds 1 and 2 are the same as posted above. If one more person agrees I will just swap semi's with a 3rd round.

No, I'd rather stay Con. I don't think we're supposed to switch sides anyway.

You're not. The final round could possibly have an arrangement, but debate tournaments are unique on this site in that you may have to defend a position that you disagree with.

ROUND 3

RESOLVED: "On balance, living in a society of anarchy is better than living under a dictatorship."

PRO_________________CON

usafkid1121____________Laissezfaire

Zetsubou______________Darkermit

=====================================================

NOTE: I have decided that this is just a random 3rd round. Also, I have decided that instead of having every judge decide a winner for every debate, I will just assign 2 judges to each debate. Therefore, the final round will be decided based on how many wins each person has (out of 6).

NOTE: Pro must challenge Con within one day. Con must accept the challenge within one day. I will not be lenient this time around. Failure to comply will result in an automatic loss.
