This is a thread for shitz and giggles.

Category 1: All the places you've lived in sequential order
Category 2" Your favorite place you've lived and why
Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why
Category 4: Your top 5 places you admire and would like to live if money was never an issue.

Category 1:

1. Miami, Florida
2. Virginia Beach, Virginia
3. San Diego, California
4. San Antonio, Texas
5. Oceanside, California
6. Flagstaff, Arizona
7. Portland, Oregon
8. Los Angeles, California
9. Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Category 2:

San Diego is the best place I've ever lived. The quality of life is through the roof, the people are generally laid back, the weather is unbeatable. It's just a really cool city. In one hour you can go from water skiing to snow skiing. There's no shortage of beautiful and interesting people or beautiful places to see. San Diego will always be a home for me and I would love to possibly go back.

The only thing preventing me from seriously considering it is that California will bankrupt in the very near future and I believe a major quake of epic proportions will affect it. It's long overdue.

Category 3:

Austin, Texas has been calling me for years now. When living in San Antonio, I visited my uncle there and fell in love with it. Amazing music scene, great night life, the Texan economy is doing leaps and bounds better than the national average, jobs are plentiful, a city that's health conscious and active, and even though it's Texas, they don't act like quintessential Texans.

Other options I've been toying with include Wilmington, NC / Atlanta, GA / Asheville, NC.

Category 4:

1. Zurich, Switzerland
2. Victoria, Canada
3. Wellington, New Zealand
4. Munich, Germany
5. Geneva, Switzerland

2. Berlin, Germany
3. Zurich, Switerland
4. Bonn, Germany
5. Oslo, Norway
6. Washington D.C.
7. Middletown, Maryland
8. Atlanta, Georgia
9 Kansas City, Kansas
10. Compton, California
11. Melbourne, Australia
12. Seattle, WA

Category 2:
Zurich, Switzerland -- If my family didn't live in Berlin, it probably would have been my first choice but... Zurich is simply amazing. The food, the people, the outdoor activities, the clubs, everything was fantastic. The nightlife was incredible and I met some of my closest friends there. I lived in a small flat in downtown and I never wanted to leave. Plus, they speak Swiss-German which reminded me of home. :)

Category 3:
Berlin, Germany -- it's my home. It has some superb educational facilities. I'd have financial ties to help me get started. I know the city very well and I know the customs which can screw over any foreigner. It just doesn't seem logical to live anywhere else...

Category 4:
1. Tokyo
2. Amsterdam
3. Dubai
4. New York
5. South Africa
I'm not back. This idiot just upset me which made me stop lurking.

Nigeria
Fredericton, New Brunswick
Scarborough, Ontario
Burlington, Ontario
Brampton, Ontario

Category 2: Your favorite place you've lived and why

Brampton because I've lived here the longest. New Brunswick was not multicultural, Scarborough is like the scum of Ontario (tied with Hamilton), and Burlington is not as nice as I remember it.

Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why

Downtown Toronto because it's gorgeous and close to everything.

Category 4: Your top 5 places you admire and would like to live if money was never an issue.

Amsterdam
Paris, France
London, England
Somewhere in Nigeria

But in all honesty, I love Toronto too much to ever want to leave.

Seriously, I've never moved out of the city.

Category 2:

Well, Dublin, I don't have much of an option here lol.

Category 3:

Again, here. I know the city, and I'd probably get homesick quickly living anywhere else. here is just practical and convenient for me.

Category 4:

London, England.
Somewhere in Australia.
Hong Kong.
Somewhere in Canada.

Gah! I went to Amsterdam this summer and it was awesome. RED LIGHT DISTRICT, BABY!! Lol. We could have a wild time. :P

Yeah! I've taken Japanese classes for about 9 years now but it's always easier to learn with another person. ^_^

Nice... I know as much as Sailor Moon has taught me. "Aragato", "mina", "kawai", "gommenasai" and "konichiwa". That's my entire Japanese vocabulary.

Category 1: All the places you've lived in sequential order

Okay but I wont go into much detail

1) a few places in the south east portion of Wyoming (Near Cheyenne)
2) Germany
3) Arizona
4) Various locations in Oklahoma, from the south east to the mid-west

Category 2" Your favorite place you've lived and why

Germany. It was beautiful, the people were nice, the food was amazing, the air was addicting, and I was *SO* much happier there.

Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why

Canada. Because they are more progressive than the US and the world tends to not-give-a-damn enough so that they aren't threatened. I heard places in BC rarely get snow, so that's where I want to live.

Category 4: Your top 5 places you admire and would like to live if money was never an issue

Germany- see above reasons, plus Kitty also loves Germany so BONUS POINTS!
Canada- Above reasons
Finland- socialistic, catering more to my beliefs on how a country ought to run
Egypt- Beautiful and WARM, plus its in two continents (yeah yeah so is Russia, but Russia is cold)
Private island- An Island that I own with kitty.
Without Royal there is a hole inside of me, I have no choice but to leave

Duluth, Minnesota
Las Vegas, Nevada

Category 2" Your favorite place you've lived and why

Honestly, it's a tie. Duluth was way more scenic, almost like coastal California (minus the palm trees and heat) because it was right by Lake Superior (largest lake in the world). But Duluth had too many annoying bugs and that seriously irritates the fvck out of me, so I like the fact that there's no bugs in Las Vegas. I like the Vegas lifestyle and nightlife a lot more though, people are always down to have fun any day.

Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why

I wouldn't mind staying here actually, long as I get to travel around a bit.

Category 4: Your top 5 places you admire and would like to live if money was never an issue.

Hong Kong, China
Paris, France

There's many others, but none really stand out as a top 5.

Yokohama, Japan. I love it because it's like an intermediary between Tokyo and Sacramento for me. It's not too big (Tokyo is just huge, confusing, and there's wayyyy too many people for my taste - fun weekend place though) but it is substantially bigger than Sac. Love the culture there (Minato Mirai and Chinatown ftw) and most of the folks there are pretty chill.

Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why

I don't know. I haven't explored enough the world yet.

No particular order:

1. Vancouver, Canada
2. Cape Town, South Africa
3. San Diego, California
4. Hong Kong, China
5. Paris, France

Definitely. No matter where I was, I still tried to incorporate my German heritage (cooking German food, reading my German books, etc.) but I was exposed to so many different cultures and people that I'm a melting pot of European customs and American mannerisms now. Lol.

Yeah, I was homeless when I was 13 and then on and off until I moved to Seattle. If I added it together, it would be at least 2 years of sleeping on the streets. <shrugs> That's part of growing up in America when you don't have money. Lol.

Impressive.Terrible, but impressive all the same. I bet nothing phases you after that.

Oh wow... At what point were you homeless if you don't mind me asking? I hope it was somewhere warm o_O

Yeah, I was homeless when I was 13 and then on and off until I moved to Seattle. If I added it together, it would be at least 2 years of sleeping on the streets. <shrugs> That's part of growing up in America when you don't have money. Lol.

Haha. I've got some pretty crazy stories and got into some scary situations from my travels! But yeah, I'd say that I'm desensitized now. :)
I'm not back. This idiot just upset me which made me stop lurking.

Category 1: All the places you've lived in sequential order

Brooklyn, New York
Staten Island, New York
New Brunswick, New Jersey
DeKalb, Illinois

Category 2" Your favorite place you've lived and why

New Brunswick, New Jersey because that's the first place I've had my first and second apartments on my own without parents. It's also where I've experienced the most life altering things, considering it's where I spent my college years... oh the debauchery :P

Category 3: Where you would like to end up in practical terms and why

Vi and I are completely open to moving anywhere, possibly even outside the country. She keeps hinting that she wants to move somewhere that has a happier and healthier population, like New Zealand or Denmark. If that were the case I'd hope to move somewhere they spoke English...? But It's not a deal breaker. Within the U.S., I'd prefer to live in a Blue state (California and Florida count) or at least one that has legalized gay marriage or recognizes civil unions. We definitely want to be on a coast (I hate living in the midwest -- I grew up surrounded by ocean, damnit) and I would prefer somewhere with as little snow as possible :P We are moving back to NY in the summer. We'll probably end up there in the NY/NJ area (if I stay around my family), California or Portland (Oregon). The wife has a thing for the West Coast I guess.

Category 4: Your top 5 places you admire and would like to live if money was never an issue.

See above... some rich neighborhood anywhere :P I really love Italy though.

Category 1:

1. Richmond, Virginia
2. Abingdon, Virginia
3. Fort Sill, Oklahoma
4. Fort Campbell, Kentucky
5. Ansbach, Germany
6. Fort Campbell, Kentucky
7. Somewhere in Saudi Arabia
8. Near Basra, Iraq
9. Fort Campbell, Kentucky
10. Johnson City, Tennessee
11. New London, Connecticut
12. Albany, New York
13. Asheville, North Carolina
Category 2:

Ansbach Germany is the best place I have ever lived. I completely enjoyed the culture and felt right at home.

I loved my time in Albany, NY but 100 inches of snow and single digit temperatures just doesn't make me wanna stay.

Category 3:
I would like to end very close to a clean beach with warm temperatures. I could walk miles a day wading through the surf lookiing for shells on a daily basis.

Category 4:

1. Santa Monica, California
2. Tel Aviv, Israel
3. Nurnberg, Germany
4. Honolulu, Hawaii
5. Saint Augustine, Florida

Damn, girl, your parents ambassadors or CIA operatives?

My grandparents are UN diplomats and my family is politically tied in Europe. When I get into trouble, they tell me to move. Lol.

Are you a third-culture kid? I know so many of those.

Definitely. No matter where I was, I still tried to incorporate my German heritage (cooking German food, reading my German books, etc.) but I was exposed to so many different cultures and people that I'm a melting pot of European customs and American mannerisms now. Lol.

you can move to Oklahoma if you want
