Writing a research paper, need to a pick a controversal topic doesn't matter what it is. I need ideas, if youd be so kind.
Why kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

Holocaust denial.

You can't get more controversial than that, can still be arrested for it in most of Europe.
I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips.

- human experimentation by the Nazis (http://en.wikipedia.org...)
- Katyn massacre and subsequent Soviet cover-up (http://en.wikipedia.org...)
- complacency of the Vatican during WWII (especially wrt the Holocaust)
- Nazi collaborators in any and all of the occupied countries

... you could go on and on. And that's just in WWII.

It's a sign. You should do the Russian revolution and its impact on the course of WWI / the brutal repression against the Bolsheviks / the rise of communism. You could take it in any number of directions.

Write about whether or not the United States government intended to enter World War II as of the German conquest of France.

Things that the Nazi started which are now considered to be "good" ideas (by most people).

Like regulating tobacco smoking, for instant.

But it depends on what side of the controversy you want to be on. Holocaust denying is only controversial if you take the deniers' side.

Also, anything that points out that the Americans were not the heros that saved the world all on their own is controversial to many.

Should the US have dropped nukes on Japan - seems like the most obvious.

There's a lot of evidence they would have surrendered anyway when the Soviets declared war on them and prepared to invade.

That one is too common, imo.

My high school science teacher talked about that all the time, how we didn't have to drop it.
She was a bad teacher and we all hated her though so I wasn't about to consider any of her theories at the time.
But whats the actual chance we were just flexing our muscle and the Japs were about to surrender?
