Okay, this is probably the 10th SOPA thread but the other threads are getting out of topic. But technically, this is still news.

So... SOPA isn't actually 100% dead, it might be revived in the coming months but who knows. This is a win for the Interwebz.

Tsk Tsk... Encouraging online stealing is now the norm. Pity. Our society needs to change.

Opposing a flawed and disgraceful bill does not encourage stealing.

How is it flawed and disgraceful?

Free expression has it limits. It is not right for me to freely express another's ideas.

PS. I agree SOPA shouldn't have been passed. However we do need to better protect our copyrights.

Hey, if you are innocent, you've got nothing to fear. Only the guilty should care.

I used to believe in that exact same philosophy, but then I realized how flawed it is. We better start installing cameras everywhere. Why not? Only those guilty of crimes need to worry!

Yes we should. The innocent will not be affected while the guilty will be caught. Win-Win.

Exactly, lol. The only obvious problem is the cost to install those cameras and hire guards to watch them.

That problem can be relatively easily solved. Have the cameras operated by a private company. For every criminal they catch they receive money.

If by abuse you mean the corporations catching every single criminal, then yes.

He means that the corporation could lie and pretend that innocents are criminals in order to gain more money.

They need proof to convict people. The whole point of proof is that it makes lying obsolete.

Lord, I agree with the (at least public) desire of SOPA to stop online piracy, but the act was so horribly created, its powers so easily abused and loopholes so grand it needed to be never passed. No law is better than a law that backfires.
