These artifacts were held under wraps by the Mexican Government but finally released.

The video is worth a watch, and worth looking at with an open and inquisitive mind, because it gives us insights into our ancient history. Make what you will of it :)

It's fascinating!

Watch video at youtube to get a good look at the stuff.

(see the quite obvious depiction of an alien abduction at 3:28.... what?)

The video said not to watch it and I can see why. At least an episode of Ancient Aliens has some comic relief.

Sure.

The mayans thought of the sky-people as gods, and vehemently believed the gods were the ones that ruled over them.

That's the million-dollar question, isn't it. We all sort of assume that at some point in recent history, probably when we started making those old movies about flying saucers about 100 years ago, that we suddenly came up with this sort of imagery - because, supposedly, aliens suddenly started visiting us, with crop-circles and the like. By seeing it again in ancient artifacts, it seems to confirm their authenticity. But if you think about it, it's much more likely that these images have simply always been part of our culture.

And what of the sophistication of the images themselves? I don't see anything "futuristic" about them at all. The ships are shaped like circles. Wow. That's the most rudimentary shape in nature. While space-flight does not require any special shape for a ship to have, you certainly do need a special shape once you enter the atmosphere. And since aliens definitely have been portrayed as coming down to us, it makes no sense that they'ed have circle-shaped ships. They would know that flying in an atmosphere requires the tear-drop shape to minimize wind-drag, which increases four-fold every time you double your speed and would tear any circle-shaped ship apart, especially at the speeds people claim they see these things whipping through in the sky. Wings would also be a logical addition to these ships unless they plan on staying in space.

The big eyes and head are not new either:

Look familiar? It's not hard to believe, at all, that this design was developed from studying insects and possibly reptiles. It is also a pretty easy artistic shape to draw, the way the curves line up, and definitely something that does not require extraterrestrial influence to create. The skulls shown in the video are also explainable by simply tying something around someone's head, causing the skull to change shape. Their grand citation for this impossibility was that "I spoke with a few doctors who said it was impossible" (paraphrasing). Well, first off, that's a citation worthy of a Fox News anchor. Second, even if it were true, medical doctors are some of the most unreliable sources of information on the planet. There simply isn't enough known about the human body yet for a doctor to be able to say "that's imposssible." For all we know the Mayans had techniques we have yet to see and understand. People in Africa mis-shape their bodies in all sorts of ways and nothing I saw in the video seems impossible at all.

Come January 2013, I think we'll be a lot less on edge about this sort of thing (;

Sorry. I don't watch videos that say "Do not watch." I also never take candy from strangers, or get in their van to help them look for their puppy.

Seems much ado about nothing to me. If there were no basic descriptions of what they allegedly look like, no one would think twice. But because we believe "Greys" have bug-eyes, it only then has some superficial meaning to us after the fact.

I love how the pyramid and eye on the one-dollar bill is somehow always seen as a testament to the ultimate conspiracy.
