Thought this was an interesting story. Fox News seems to be dead-set on the idea that the historical Jesus and Saint Nicholas (Santa) were white.

However, the latest reconstructions and genealogies indicate both figures were likely olive/brown skinned, and looked more like Arabs/Moors then any "white" man.

Out of the list of reasons you can make as to why fox news is deluded, this is the one you chose? :)

I made up my mind in 2002/3 when a fox commentators referred to London anti war protestors as "terrorist sympathisers".

LOL, I don't think anyone reasonable takes them seriously, but this entire "controversy" is quite revealing, in a way that Fox News gaffe's usually aren't.

Fox News' entire message is deluded. Their conservative and white supremacist agenda pervades the ignorant minds of republicans. Of course they would want these important historical figures to be Caucasian. They wouldn't be revered if they were any other ethnicity.

Of course Santa is white, don't you see the commercials or watch the movies?
Also, an arab looking jesus would make droning Yemeni children harder to do, so he's white too.

Jesus I can at least understand because you can come up with some reason why Josephs father secretly immigrated from England to the Holy lands or something like that. Like Jesus was a historical figure so you can make an argument for something like a conclusive heritage.

Santa, however, disredgarding the fact that I would assume him to be like Inuit or something, is a magic immortal demigod who can stop time and make matter appear out of nowhere and bypass copywrite laws, but doesn't have the magic to change his skin color, and definitely has an unchangable skin tone even though it was people who made him white in the first place.

That'd be like people freaking out because like Heimdal from Thor or the Green Lantern or Spiderman get reimagined as black peo-OH RIGHT THAT HAPPENED TOO.

I think people in this thread are referring to Saint Nicholas of Myra, who was an actual historical figure.

I'm sure there's some inspiration from that guy giving people gifts, but unless he wore red robes all the time and rode a sleigh pulled by reindeer and got offered cookies in return for his services and had a factory run by diminutive workers, I still think at least half of the iconography of Santa has nothing to do with Saint Nicholas and was integrated into the story from other sources or inspirations.

I think Megyn Kelly was referring to the imaginary come down your chimney Santa made in Coke's image in the eary 1900's.

And by the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white but this person just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa but Santa is what he is. Just so you know, we"re just debating this because someone wrote about it, kids. OK, wanted to get that straight.

Pretty stupid comment if you ask me. Why in goodness sake do the good christians of the US continue the santa facade any way?

Just more Fox news hypocrisy, I guess. Out of one side run incessant clips about atheists attacking the rights of christians and then the other side sell porn magazines at their branded stores in the airports. Anyone with a half of brain should know their credibility is long ago shot, but it is nice to have reminders like this that they are half baked.
