I started watching the channel recently, and I am pleasantly surprised. I'm not really noticing any clear bias, and it goes pretty in depth. What are your thoughts?

Al Jazeera America is far better then the usual Fox/CNN/MSNBC crap. It has its biases, but they are far less flagrant, and far less relevant, then those of traditional American media.

I would recommend getting your news online, but if you are going to watch TV, then Al Jazeera America is better then the above three choices.

I like it, but my preferred news source is BBC World.

It is biased as its parents company, from Qatar, favors The Muslim Brotherhood. And they hired some left-leaning people who were on CNN. I don't really need it. I prefer other sources.

I started to follow British news channels, Sky and both BBC channels: BBC World and BBC News out of London. They are good for world stories as is France 24.

For United States I use a variety of sources. But I like news aggregators the best. one is http://polurls.com... . I do the rss feed thing at Digg too so I can put the sources I want.

But for video I watch Fox News, CNN and MSNBC to compare and contrast. You can use their video pages or watch the channels. I also sometimes watch free newscasts across the country from various cities like KTTV and KTLA in Los Angeles or WGN in Chicago or whatever.

Have you ever watched it to confirm that bias, or are you just speculating? When I was watching, I was astonished by the lack of bias I could see. Even if their parent company is from Qatar and favors the Muslim Brotherhood, you have to consider that Al Jazeera America is there to appeal to an American audience, so for it to have that bias would be bad for it.
