Thailand"s military officially took control of the country Thursday, two days after the army chief imposed martial law.

Also, Thailand's military imposed a nationwide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. local time after declaring a coup on Thursday, Deputy army spokesman Winthai Suvareesaid, according to Reuters.

The Royal Thai Armed Forces has taken control of the Royal Thai Government, after almost 6 months of political instability. The Army Chief has explained that "this coup was carried out to preserve the unity of the nation. In order for tranquility to be preserved, a curfew has been enacted"

Democracy has been destroyed in Thailand! Now this, people, is a real cause for celebration!

To be honest, democracy is good for countries that are ready for it. How to know if a country is ready for democracy? When the masses arise and replace the whole system with a democratic system.

Let us now examine the 1932 Revolution which abolished absolute monarchy in Thailand shall we?

Three Groups were behind it.

1. Radical Students who have learnt/heard about democracies from abroad. Thailand was sending a plethora of students abroad, and has been since 1932.

2. Military Officials who need power; these people were the backbone of the revolution. This was one of the main reasons why democracy in Thailand was unsustainable.

3. Civilian Officials and Aristocrats who were unsatisfied with the current government. During the Regime of King Rama VI, huge deficit was created by an increase in spending in the military and traditional arts. Under King Rama VII, the salary of civilian officials were cut by half.

The Revolution of 1932 was not a mass-led revolution, but rather a "simple transfer of power" as stated by Times Magazine. The masses were apathetic of politics. The masses still believed in the king.

Apart from this, the post-revolutionary trauma was further deterred by many coups and civil disobedience.

So yep, the Revolution of 1932 was not a mass led revolution. I could write more. Wanna debate this?

Cmon people! Join me in celebrating!

I'm good.

We have beer! Anyone?

I'd celebrate, but we have a stupid 10 PM curfew, which means every club and bar is closed for the week. This sucks.

Beer sucks

I'm fine with no beer. But the curfew still sucks :P
