They're planning on cutting welfare and increasing military spending.
Thoughts?

Same sh!t, different day. Won't get passed. Just trying to appeal to the base before the election. Everyone knows nothing gets done during a lame duck session.

BUMP Govt never cuts spending, it always increases. They just move it around, but no federal spending agency ever gets less than last years baseline which was the increase from the previous year.

Except in 2010 (spending dropped $60 billion from 2009) and 2012 (spending dropped $65 billion from 2011) and 2013 (spending dropped $80 billion from 2012).

Fair enough but that's drops in the bucket, especially if you count the inflation from all the money printing.

No, deficit spending dropped. Running a deficit is not cutting spending. Spending less than you take in is cutting spending.

No, that is called balancing a budget. They spent more in 2009 then they did in 2010. That is, by definition, cuts in spending.

That's true, it is minor. However, it is the first time in since the mid 50's that we've ever cut spending and we did so 3 times in 4 years. It isn't much, a few % points each time, but 2% down is better than 2% up. Also, these numbers are not factoring inflation, so the real dollar value is actually a larger cut (but that doesn't matter when it comes to debt).

Ya, I will tell that to my children when they have to pay that.

Don't worry, they'll probably pass it on to the next generation, as will that generation.

But really, the direness of a situation is no excuse to use wrong words to misrepresent it. That just makes people think you are silly and have no idea what you are talking about. This just makes it harder to warn people about the truth and you just end up hurting your own children.

You can say spending money you don't have is cutting spending until the cows come home but it will never mean that you are cutting spending. Reducing the amount of debt you incur is not cutting spending in any reality. What you are saying is the big lie. Reducing debt spending does not equal cutting spending. The same amount is being spent plus more debt is what you are saying and then calling it a reduction in spending.
