So in Oklahoma, one 16 year old girl texted a naked picture of herself to her boyfriend. He in turn passed in on to his friends (lol, obviously). Now the D.A. is charging those boys with child pornography! Technically, even owning child porn is a crime, but in this case they're saying the "willing distribution of it" i.e. every boy that passed on the pic should be charged with this crime. It'd make them registered sex offenders and could cost them up to 10 years in prison. Now technically, on the books this is a legit case but they think it will overall be dismissed through appeals. However, several states already have or are looking into creating laws that punish teens for doing this (or anyone who passes on a naked pic of a teen, including the girl herself). What do you think? I'm frankly just giggling because quite honestly I sent my gf pics when I was in HS too. I mean don't/didn't we all? God, teenagers are fvcking stupid.

I think if they are going to rule the content child porn, the girl should go to jail for distribution. Really, tho - the only one culpable here IMO is the boyfriend. He should be punished, but child porn seems a little severe. I dunno what else they would call it tho.

I agree with JCMT - the boyfriend is probably the most culpable, and even the girl who sent them has some blame. But the charges are a little harsh, though I've got to ask exactly how hold these guys are - older or younger than the 16 year old? Age means a lot in a case like this.

I don't see whats wrong with it. I sent a couple pics to my bf. I also talk dirty to him all the time. If its two consenting teens Idk why the law should get pissy.

Advactages to sexting: It gives teens what they want
No STDs incolved
No risk of pregnancy
Nothing is actually harmed in any way

Cons
Its illegal.

wtf.

Seriously though she was 16, so if he's in the 14-18 age range then there's nothing actually wrong with it. Seriously child porn charges should oly be present if there is a significant age difference and there is a minor and adult in the case. Such as if she was 16 while he was 22, I could see the wrongness in that.

My case for instance I'm 15, 16 in November. My bf is 16, 17 in October. There is nothing wrong with that and the law needs to chill.

I think they're the same age - like 16. Maybe it got passed to an 18 year old somewhere along the way.

Lol I wonder what this girl's father thinks :/

Mostly right, but what if your bf sent your pics to other people? Would you be upset? Should he be punished? What if someone who got the pics sent them to others or posted them on the internet? The problem here is that the girl intended for just her boyfriend to see the pics. If that had been the case, none of this would be an issue.

If it did, then the charges are probably fair, at least to the DA. However, it just clicked into my head that I don't think its actually required that someone 18+ and etc. receives the text - just because its out there, distributed to others that are not yourself, and etc., is cause enough. Kind of silly, in my opinion.

However, the boyfriend should receive more of the blame than the girlfriend, even in legal circumstances. He is the one that technically "distributed," at least to a mass audience.

Lol I wonder what this girl's father thinks :/

I suppose its one thing to find out your daughter has been sexting - its another to have it played over the national airwaves. Lol, poor guy.

I'd say none of em should be charged as such.

If adults start holding or distributing the photos they should...

but... it's not rape if a 16 yo engages with a 16 yo.... why should it be child porn...

it's like sex....

now his distributing the photo's a dck move... but you're allowed to show/ copy photos ppl give you.. no?

though I could see distributing pictures of minors being illegal (including distribution by minors) BUT.... I wouldn't say it should be counted as child offense... with the whole Sex Offender baggage for the kid...

the child porn laws are meant to go after creepy older dudes.

All I have to say is, instead of feeling the need to send your boyfriend a naked picture of yourself, tell him to go online and look at some porn if he feels like it. I can almost guarantee that there are many porn stars that look hotter than the girlfriend atm. Best part is that the girlfriend really isn't in "the wrong," and the guy really won't get into any trouble either.

He actually asked for permission to show his friends. The only bad thing that happened from it is one of his friends is now harrassing me on fb. Course he kept the pic and just showed it, not resending it just so that couldn't happen with strnagers.

My porblem with the strictness is my parents took my phone once and saw that we were talking dirty and they started on about how its illegal and how the FBI can see it all and their gunna trace me and send me to federal prison. I expect most of that to be lie, but I still don't see why its a big deal to anyone.

And also I know they have the ability to trace this stuff, its doubtful they would really look at me much, but could happen. I still don't see why it would be illegal.

And another question, is it really illegal to cuss in a text? They said I could go to prison for that too.

(wow I'm really sorry for all that rantishness)

Some guys actually want to see their gf, even if she isn't the hottest. ITs like telling him to go find a porn star to f*ck instead of his gfjust cause she's hotter. Porn is porn and I think actually being involved with someone that your seeing naked is a lot better then seeing some porn star you'd never be able to actually be with.

Actually now that I think about it, minors watching normal adult porn is worse then seeing other minors in naked pics. If it wouldn't be legal to do, it shouldn't be legal to watch lol. Course I don't actually see anything wrong with it, just saying from more of a standpoint of "thats wrong" that should be more wrong lmao.

Seriously, I honestly think that sexting is dumb. The woman in the relationship shouldn't need to take naked pictures of herself just to please the boyfriend; likewise, the man in the relationship shouldn't need to take naked pictures of himself to feel masculine, to please her, etc. Like I've already said, porn and simple imagination are much easier and don't really put you in trouble.

Well, that's your opinion. My suggestion avoids more legal matters, and is more of a route that provides instant gratification and entertainment.

I really don't find much wrong with having "minors" watching normal "adult" porn. Nothing wrong with being attracted to people older than you.

Sexting? I never said that it should be illegal - I said that there are easier and more satisfying ways of achieving that type of feeling without having to go through the trouble of taking clothes off, taking various pictures to determine the best one, having to then send it to the boyfriend, etc.

Lmao actually both times were after taking a shower and I just sent the first one. Not a whole lot of trouble considering I take like 10 pics a day of really random stuff.

I don't think it's "wrong" either; however, I honestly (for myself) don't see any point in doing it. I like women that (at least) appear to be hard to get. Women who can be sexy even with all their clothes on.
